Wednesday Morning

Well Tuesday was a busy day that ended with me getting back on the pickle ball court with my mountain players. Wow it had been two weeks since I last played but the game is much like riding a bike; once done you don't forget. The morning started with a 5:30 wake up as the internal alarm much to my chagrin is working only this time it starting a little earlier than I want it to.

After a few quiet minutes and a lite breakfast I loaded up the golf cart with the chain saw and headed out to the backwoods yards to work up a huge oak that neighbor Gerald had cut down last fall. I piled the brush then sawed the tree up into several pieces then took the sledge hammer and wedges and busted about half of them into smaller chunks, yikes did that ever kick my tail and I still have a dozen or so to bust up at a later date. I did manage to stomp on hundreds of slugs as the yards and gardens have become infested with them after all of this damp cool weather the past couple of days. I literally picked dozens from the kale and beet plants as well as a few from the flowering plants.

After a lunch of salad we took off to the top of the mountain for our daily hike and stopped to visit with the Clines(Anne & Sandy) and the Cottles(John & Shirley) were there as well; so we sat on the back porch and chatted for nearly an hour or more before deciding to finished the walk across the top to the Brownings. It was after 4 when we finally decided to head back down the mountain to our place. Jetta blessed us with some multiplying green onions that seemed to have really taken off in her garden. I transplanted them into separate pots when we got back and hopefully will set them out in my garden in a few days. I use to have them for years as they really do multiply but I haven't seen them for years so I will hopefully keep enough for my winter garden in Florida.

I headed out around 6 to the Roaring Gap court after a lite supper of a leftover turkey burger to meet up with 3 other players. We never stopped for 2 hours and wow did I ever work up a sweat. The play is somewhat different using outside balls and of court its a non skid surface which changes the bounce on the ball but it is still a great workout and even more fun. I got back a little before 9 and it was still light out enough to transplant a couple cucumber plants from the lower garden into the upper one. They just didn't seem to be getting enough sunshine due to the trees surrounding the lower garden so hopefully this will make a difference. Well after a hot shower and a few minutes reading FROZEN IN TIME it was horizontal lab at 10:30, LATER
