Wow, what a storm that went through yesterday and most of the night. If this was just a tropical storm then surely I do not want to see a major hurricane come through these mountains. The rain was so strong at times we thought surely it was coming through the tin roof. We now have running water on the property as the dry gulch or ditch below the house is running with water coming down off the mountain. It's roaring like a river. The garden is still there but barely as the winds bent and sliced off most of those plants not washed away. I haven't been outside to check the rain gauge but we started the day with 2 1/2 inches and I know the gauge must be over flowing.
Well Tuesday except for a few brief moments in the morning was a total wash out. I did get outside early to walk around the property before the big storm struck around mid morning. We had tornado warning, heavy rains at times which looked like hail falling off the roof and then periods of gentle soft rain. The really heavy rain and winds came after I hit the sack at 10 PM and Nancy thought she heard a tornado in the area. I did manage a half way hike up the back trail before the rain came again during the mid morning hours but that was it except for stair walks and doing inside honey do chores.
I started the day out with a well before 6 rollout to my usual routines of a cup of hot green tea while I posted this ramble and then some quiet time with my Creator and Lord giving thanks and lifting several up for healing. Both of our kids and their spouses are suffering the effects of this virus and are quarantined in their homes. Amy seems to be suffering the most with no energy and a cough. My nephew in Virginia is in dire shape with being hospitalized and I now believe on a ventilator as they can not get his oxygen level up. So far we have not been affected. We do have guests coming from Florida today and both of them have been infected and are now over it, we hope.
Well I tuned into the Ray's last evening and they were blowing away the Orioles again with great hitting and decent pitching. The rain has stopped thus far this AM but the skies are overcast. I want to get outside and check on the gardens and get a hike in before folks arrive, LATER
