Well Friday saw us with some more wet weather for the morning but by late afternoon the skies cleared and we finally saw the sunshine for the first time in several days. We've had over 2 plus inches of a soaking rain with fog, thankfully it hasn't been a gully washer style so the road and driveway has remained in fairly good shape. We did get in a hike to the top of the mountain for some exercise but mostly we read for the day. We did meet up at the Kluttz house where we played Sequence with Ray, Audean, Brandon, Rachel, Kimberly and Eddie for the first time in a couple of years. Eddie had his accident the week before we came back to the cabin two years ago and it was 7 months before that so it was close to three years since we last played together.
The day started much the usual with my 6'ish roll out to start my last day in the decade of the 60's, yikes where did that time go. I did my usual morning routines with my cup of hot turmeric tea, the posting of this ramble and then my quiet time with my Creator. Nancy was still in the sack enjoying her morning snooze as she is a night time person and I'm in the horizontal position usually by 10. It was so wet and cool out that we stayed in talking on the phone and playing around on the Internet until nearly lunchtime when we decided to take a hike to the top of the mountain. The rain finally stopped long enough to head out. The woods were dripping wet but we stayed on the beaten path. We saw the tree cutter crew on top of the mountain as they work in our area clearing out the power line right of way from any tree limbs that may affect the lines or cause loss of power. We stopped briefly at the Browning's as they had Dean Todd helping Joe install new belts on a used mower.
We came back and finished the leftover sandwiches from yesterday's lunch that were so big when we ate at Macado's. They were still delicious along with some homemade pickles our "mountain mom" canned this summer. Afterwards the rains came again so we sat on the porches reading until it was time to made a salsas and a bean dip to take to the party at Eddie's and Kimberly. We had a ton of great tasting finger foods that included a layered dip, bean dip, salsas and jalapeno poppers and of course taco chips. Well the food was very tasty and we shared the leftovers. The food was much better than the score of the guys vs the gals. We were trounced 5-0 which of course let to some bragging rights and accusations that we cheated. I often wondered how you can cheat and lose so convincingly, oh well it was a raucous fun time especially whenever Kimberly is in the crowd and it was going on 10'ish when we called it a night. We saw the moon and stars for the first time in several days on the way home, LATER
