Well Tuesday started out a bit nippy with temps in the low 40's and finally reached the upper 50's by late afternoon; but the skies were a beautiful deep blue with bright sunshine. The steady breeze which we love in summertime kept you in long pants especially in the shaded areas of the woods. We are trying to use of some of the extra food we had purchased when we had guests so we had supper with the Luffman's and then a raucous game of Sequence afterwards before they all headed out before the World Series at 8.
The day started much the usual except for 7'ish roll out for me. The cabin temp was down to the low 60's so I turned on the two portable heaters and soon had it up to a toasty 70 when Nancy decided to make her appearance. I had my cup of hot green tea laced with honey and turmeric while I spent a few quiet moments with my Creator in Thanksgiving and lifting up several by name for comfort and healing. Nancy spoke with her mom in Michigan and she is progressing with doing some physical therapy. We are hoping she can get back on her feet, literally after being down since last May.
I hung a load of laundry outside and what a perfect day for drying and oh the fresh smell plus the savings. I called several business folks as we get ready to put the cabin in a winterized mode for the next 7 months. Phone, internet and tv all need to be put on vacation and the local paper needs a change of address. It costs about 50 bucks a month to keep the power readily accessible as well as our phone number when we come back which is cheaper than a total disconnect. I do cut the breaker in the basement which shuts everything down but when I return all I have to do it switch the breaker back on and then call the phone company to reset my fios network. The loss of power this year was a first in many years with the terrible wind storms that blew huge trees across the power lines.
We got in a hike to the top of the mountain in the early afternoon and visited with our dear friends the Browning's for a spell. The sunshine was so bright on top of the mountain and the skies so clear. We watched a huge jet at about 30 thousand feet flying over and we could see the contrail so clearly. Nancy had some 2 packs of country style ribs in a roaster with sauerkraut in the oven and the smell had our mouths watering for the next couple of hours while waited to see the Luffman's for the last time this year. The Sequence games were a total wipeout or a sweep for the gals at 4-0 and they gloated as last time we wiped the floor with them.
Well our time is drawing near here in the mountains and then its back to the flat land of Florida and warmer temps. I'm getting things ready for packing on Thursday evening for an early morning start. Today, Wednesday is supposed to warm up into the high 60's which is just perfect and makes it even harder to leave these mountains. We will make a garbage run to town on Thursday morning and that will be our last trip to Sparta for about 7 months.
On a sad note the liberal judges who have blocked this president's attempt to regulate the illegals and jihadist's from entering the country now have blood on their hands and souls with the needless killings in New York yesterday. It's a shame and also criminal to coddle and make entering the country easy for these who want to terrorize the nation as we have seen them do in Europe. The effort to destroy this president at the cost of the safety for the US(A) is outrageous and despicable to say the least. Those liberals in the congress who continue to thwart our duly elected POTUS with not only this egregious act but the subversion of due process with the Clinton and Obama administration in bringing them to justice is treasonous in my book and I think most rational people see these actions as unpatriotic and wanton hatred for America; I know I do and I will never forgive them, LATER
