Monday Morning in 2017

Well Sunday was a day to remember which started the new year out right for us as we had a great morning of worship at church then fellowshipped with our close friends in the "cool peoples club" to finished up the leftovers from the night before for lunch then had the whole family minus Katie for our traditional new years day meal. Katie was helping her dad move into his new hardware store building in Brandon and on top of all that the Bucs won their last game of the season but were knocked out of the playoff picture.

The day started about an hour later for me as we were up until after midnight watching the old year out and the new year begin. So it was close to 7 when the internal alarm awakened me. I did my usual morning routines before getting ready to head out. We were volunteering as greeters at Bridgepoint Church so we had to be there for the 9 o'clock meeting for the service which now begins at 9:30. We were assigned to the balcony which has four doors and today we were having not only a couple of baptisms but having communion as well. This was the first time we have taken that since making Bridgepoint our regular place to worship. We assisted in the offering collections as well. Pastor Tim had a super message for the new year as we become also a new person in Christ. The old year and person pass away when we make that decision.

We met up with our "club members" after the service and headed back to their house. I brought the left over beef barley soup and along with the other leftovers we shared a very tasty meal. We didn't stay long as we had to get ready for the family supper. I headed out to hand water the gardens and noticed the one cold morning helped to turn some of the cucumber leaves brown near the bottom of the plant. I hope it was the cold and not something else. For some reason I have a difficult time growing cukes here. I'll need to harvest green beans again soon and the half runner beans are almost large enough to harvest as well. After the watering I helped with setting up the dining room table as Nancy got the huge bone-in pork roast ready as well all the trimmings for our traditional supper. There was smashed taters, sauerkraut, Nathan dogs, kielbasa, blacke eyed peas crusty bread and some red vino flowed with browines and some pastry for dessert. I settled into the Bucs vs the Panthers game and it wasn't pretty. Needless to say its obvious neither team belong in the playoff's despite the home team winning. The turnovers and near turnovers were not consistent with good play albeit was the last game of the season. I've seen better football at the high school level.

Well Bobby and grand kiddos came as both he and Katie had helped her dad move into his new free standing building over the weekend and she was still there until late in the evening. Tyler and Amy came with their three kiddos and the five of them had a grand time running around and playing. Betsy and Gus came and picked up GG as well so we were all there and ready to eat by 6'ish. The food was awesome. After the cleanup we settled into the game called "Things"which the older girls love to play and then all of the kiddos took showers and baths. We then played another game called "catch phrase" which is a fast moving game much like charades.

Bobby and kiddos took off for home and we continued with the game until nearly 10. It was a fun time had by all and the kiddos were starting to get cranky as they had been traveling for the past two days. They left taking their gold fish which we had been babysitting while they were gone for two weeks. That was an easy job but that fish went crazy whenever you went near the tank. I actually think it loved company. It wasn't long after 10'ish I got ready for some horizontal lab and the end of the first day of this new year. Betsy seems to be getting better and stronger as she walked without a cane. There is still a limp but she seems to be progressing and is finally out of that pain in her hip. GG is in remarkable good health for her age at 88 and still lives alone and we are so blessed with that happening.

We are hoping for a good year with our health as well but Nancy is having some issues with dry and red eyes so she will see an opthamologist this week. I'm thinking it an allergy to the makeup and or solutions she uses to take the red out, oh well what do I know, LATER
