Well Monday was another hot and muggy day here on the mountain and despite some rain clouds that never dropped any rain here specifically there was plenty in the areas. The cloud cover and eventually a breeze cooled things down some what but it was still too hot in mid afternoon to get much done except sitting on the porch reading and that is what we did for a couple hours.
I started the day off much the usual with my morning routines of a 6'ish roll out. I had my cup of hot turmeric drink with my handful of Nutrilite supplements, posted this ramble and then did my quiet time to honor my Creator, give thanks and pray for those I know and love. Nancy was still doing her horizontal lab until about 7:30 so I headed out to check on the gardens. The veggies are holding their own despite the lack of rain now for about 10 days. We have been getting some heavy dews so they are getting some moisture throughout the night. The grass has been wet each morning requiring me to wear my gum boots until nearly lunch time.
I pulled another handful of yellow squash and cucumbers as well as a bag of lettuce to share with our neighbors Carl and Donna Hudson. They are back at their beautiful cabin after a long two weeks of vacationing with their grand children. It was great to see them again and they were most pleased with the fresh veggies. We will make plans to get together with them for a supper in the near future. My golf cart goes right up their steep driveway with no problem as usually only 4 wheel drives make it to the top easily as its that steep with several curves mixed in.
I decided to stake the tomato plants above the wire cages already in place as the plants are now above my chest in height. They are bearing the largest green tomato's of any in the garden so I want to make sure they don't break down. It's the first year of growing them in this location with any success. I changed locations on many of the plants this year despite rotating the crops. I'm not sure if the extra manure over the winter helped or the use of the Garden Magic minerals I use is the real difference. I get those from my organic gardening store in Florida and I think they have more than paid for their use with my productivity.
Well we took a hike before dark as we were scheduled to go on the river in our kayaks but the storms in the area (none out this way)forced us to cancel. After a supper of grilled Salmon fillets and grilled veggie's that included whole fresh mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, onions, yellow and zucchini squashes lightly coated with olive oil and placed in my grill basket for about 35 minutes. These were accompanied by some Jasmine rice, yeow was that ever some fine eatin' and healthy as well. We piddled around outside as dusk settled in and then read until it was shower time. Our Fox News Cable Channel was at the DNC and I just could not stomach listening to those who garner support for their lying crooked nominee. I have a sickening feeling there will be so much voter fraud as there was in the last election. We see how the country is in such a bad state of affairs as a result and there are those in the media who are blind to this corruption and actually help promote the destruction of our values and mores. Never before have I ever seen so much of a double standard for these elitist in the political realm as it has been for the Clinton's and the Obamas, LATER
