Well I must say the 4th was a busy fun filled day that didn't end until around 11'ish after the fireworks and showers. (I will cut this ramble short as we have to be in Damascus, Va. by 10:30) The day started with everyone awakening some time after 8'ish as the night before found us up well past midnight playing games with most of our Fl. friends(the young ones) the night before, oh well.
We just lazed around the cabin having another large mountain breakfast. I opened the best bacon ever that sister Dee blessed us with and Nancy made cakes for some of the youngun's and the left over taters were awesome that Chef Bobby prepared, I added fresh thyme and a jalapeno pepper to mine. We decided since it was overcast to do some fishing with kiddos and Katie. She had never caught a fish and she caught a small bass and even baited her hook with a real earthworm. I think she will fit in with this family just fine worm guts and all. All of the kiddos caught fishes and for once I didn't have to worry about not catching up with Nancy as she and Amy and Eliza Faye went shopping in Sparta. After an eventful morning everyone had lunch and I cleanup up the grounds and then took all the kiddos but Eliza on a golf cart ride. We found ripe black berries along the way then stopped at the Browning's. Jetta showed the kiddos her collection of dolls and many paintings especially the cat rock which just amazes me with her artist talents.
We took off sometime around 3:30 for the Bald Knob Farm House which we use to rent and which now our Fl. friends (Perry's and Anderson's) rented for several days. We had a cook out and then played badminton (using the board fence as a net) and mainly just sat on the porches of this old farm house which has been renovated. It's nestled in the valley which was originally farmed by horses with no electricity. Beautiful ambiance. We waited around until 8:30 then headed for the high school on Sparta to watch the fireworks where we met up with the Dalton's and Dan, Carol and Kathryn for a nice fireworks display. We left just as a storm approached and as the finally filled the skies and beat the crowds out of the parking lot. It wasn't long after showers and some much needed horizontal lab. Today is another bog with all 17 of us heading over to the Va. Creeper trail for a 17 mile down the mountain ride on bikes, LATER
