Well Wednesday turned out to be a great day all around as I slept in until 7'ish and after my usual routines did my walk around outside. The gardens are holding their own after the nice rain the past couple of days. I'm still not getting any ripe tomatoes but my friends are keeping me supplied as of right now and our friend Joe has the tastiest 'maters thus far. We actually stopped by his place after lunch and picked a sack of tomatoes, peppers and green onions as well as some jalapenos.
We are having all of a sudden phone problems and on a day when I received lots of calls from well wishers as I celebrated my birthday with just doing not much of anything. The weather was perfect for hiking and we took one just before lunch and stopped and talked with Joe on top of the mountain and then as we headed across we saw Norman sitting on his deck talking with his neighbor Rex. We sat and visited with them for a spell before heading back down off the top.
We ate a lite lunch of a salad before heading over to Joe's. The rest of the afternoon was getting ready for company. I managed to read a little before filleting the nice mess of rainbow trout my fishin' buddy Caleb keeps me supplied with. I fried about half and then Nancy baked about half of them and were they ever delicious along with blacks beans and Jasmine rice. A fresh garden salad accompanied as well. We played a game of spades after supper and the gals teamed up to beat us guys and then we taught them a new game called 5 Crowns and Nancy smoked us big. We had brownies with ice cream and whipped cream for my birthday dessert.
I want to thank all who took the time to remember me on this special day with cards, gift cards, phone calls and of course all of the Face Book salutations. I feel loved in so many ways by a multitude of folks, LATER
