Saturday Morning

Well Friday saw us with some of the cooler temps for the summer as it was overcast skies and at times breezy. It was in the 50's to start the day and never reached much warmer than 60. This was the first time except for church on Sunday that I wore long pants and a long sleeve shirt. The day was mostly a work day until we headed to the town of Sparta for supper and then "music on the main". I will elaborate later on both. We hooked up with another couple we hadn't seen in two years who are here in the mountains for the summer from Crystal River, Florida. Actually the first time we met them was at this eatery.

The day started for me with my usual 6'ish rollout. I had my proverbial hot cup of green tea laced with turmeric to wash down my handful of supplements while I posted this ramble and spent a few quiet moments to honor my Creator in thanksgiving for my many blessing and to lift up those I know and love in prayer. I fried up a couple cackleberries with a broken yoke and created a breakfast sandwich of toasted pumpernickel bread with sliced 'mater, slice of sweet onion and mayo, yeow what a way to start the juices flowing in the morning. I headed over to our "mountain moms" cabin and gave the bathroom door and trim the finished coat of paint as she had redone her bathroom. It turned out nice.

I fired up the weed whacker when I got back to the cabin and edged the whole property which kept me busy right up to lunch time. I finished off the venison leftovers from last nights supper which was so tasty. That was my last pack of the ground deer meat and I'm looking forward to hunting season this year as I want to stock up. Both Nancy and I love the taste and texture of this extra natural lean meat as we prepare it several different ways. After lunch we headed out to the top of the mountain for our daily hike. We are doing much better on the way up with just an occasional rest on the steep backwoods trail. We actually went off trail today and hiked through the woods, briars, fallen limbs and trees to reach the back road. Very interesting hike as I once again found some "lighter knot" which is great for starting fires.

We headed out around 4'ish for Sparta where we were meeting up with the Tracy's for supper at Becca's. This evening was "music on the main" where several individual business were show casing locals musicians. While waiting for our supper to be served we saw Sam and Nancy Huff a sweet couple we befriended a couple years ago. We were at a table for 6 with two empty chairs so I invited them to join us for supper and they were a hit with the Tracy's as well. It was Nancy's 65 birthday and we had a grand time together. Afterwards we stopped at the Republican Headquarters next door where we listened to some good music inside and then did some "flat footin"to the peppy music. We recognized some folks that we met at turkey knob civic center a couple years back who were friends of the Huff's. We headed on down the street to listen to and dance to some great music in front of the court house. It was a fun evening and we so enjoyed seeing and renewing the Huff's friendship. They will be close to the Tracy's new home in Dade City, Fl. and will probably become friends there as well.

We dined on roast chicken, taters and corn at Becca's along with some fruit of the vine. The place was packed with dinners and we saw some old acquaintances there also while we listened to a classical guitarist. There wasn't enough room for a large group of musicians. We sparked up the crowd with getting folks onto the dance floor which was bricks on the court house lawn. A rather good crowd was there. It was going on 10'ish when we decided to head for the cabin, LATER
