Sunday Morning October 10th

Well the rain finally stopped just before dark yesterday and we saw a brief view of the sun for about 15 minutes before the clouds once again took over and blocked it out. It rained off and on but mostly on all day and we even got caught in a shower after hiking to the top on one of those off moments to take some home made cookies to the Davis Family. We actually saw and briefly spoke with Ben who is fighting for his life. He was bundled up and on oxygen on the outside deck under the canopy in the rain looking at the mountains. He had been at the hospital in Sparta during the morning hours getting another blood transfusion which gives him life briefly from his leukemia. His whole attitude seems improved since being here surrounded by family in the mountains.

I started the day much the usual with a 6;ish roll out to my routines and quiet times. I did get in a mid morning hike to the top on a rain break and spoke with the Davis Family before heading back down the mountain to another morning rain. We've had over 4 inches since Wednesday with no sunshine but the temps have been very moderate considering this time of the year. We haven't had any frost as of yet which is quite unusual. We mostly spent the day in the cabin except for our afternoon hike which we nearly ran back down the mountain from another the rain shower which was quite heavy. Needless to say it was change clothes and then a hair dryer as neither of us had head coverings.

I started another Jeff Shaara book about the battles in WWII on the continent with both the air battles and the ground fighting, it was unbelievable what these hero's went through to defeat the Nazi's. After our hike to the top I settled into the MLB game with the Braves and Brewers and some college football while Nancy read. We finished up the chicken soup on this cool damp evening for our supper and then I tuned into more sports before hitting the shower at 9. The TV was hers afterwards and I read until 10'ish.

We did get in some face time with Bobby, Katie and the boys during the afternoon when they were all out by the pool. Both boys jumped in the pool at times but Ryder is a little more reserved than Huck who just walks right in and then goes to the steps. No crying on either ones part and we are so glad to see the security fence around the pool area until they confidently learn to swim. Bobby is teaching them the art of survival as we taught him and Amy and that has taken away the fear of the water, whereas it took Sam years to overcome that fear.

We awaken around 3'ish in the early morning with smoke alarm pinging and leaned there was no power until 7:30. That was quite unusual for here with no real stormy weather except for the rain showers, LATER
