Thursday Morning July 8th

Well Elsa made itself known to the west coast of Florida but there was very little damage and a few power outages with lots of rain at times. Our place stood up with just a couple small tree branches off the big oak in the back yard and the folks across the street lost power for a couple hours. We are thankful as not only we but both Bobby and Amy's places were unharmed as well.

I started the day on Wednesday much the usual with a before 6 roll out to my routines that start with the cup of hot tea while I post this ramble then lift up several folks during my quiet time to my Creator and Lord. All seem as well as can be expected. I headed out shortly after checking on my social media friends for my early morning non stop hike to the top of the mountain. What a beautiful morning as the sun was shining brightly on the other side of the mountain with blue skies and just enough freshness in the air to be exhilarating. I had my small talk with God on the hike hoping he would save this nation from those who are corrupted leaders.

Nancy made a huge mountain breakfast of ham, eggs and grits which held us until 4'ish when we decided to eat our supper. I was playing pickle ball for the first time since May at 6:30 and didn't want to play just after eating which we usually do around 6. We ate good for supper with a pan fried salmon filet, leftover mixed veggie casserole and some garlic butter pasta.

After breakfast I cleaned the three filters on the mini split a/c units and wow were they ever dirty especially the one on the main floor and then transplanted some lettuce seedlings into 6 packs, hung a load of laundry and then set up the pack and plays for the twins who will be here on Friday evening. We are getting excited about their visit for about 4 days before they visit Katie's family in Boone. We will take another grocery run to Galax today (Thur) for a few goodies as well as a few items for the grands and then we have company coming next week for the first time here for a couple of nights and then our dear friends who purchased land and set up their property for their motor coach is coming for a couple weeks. Should be a busy fun filled rest of July.

Well I played well on the pickle ball court as its been 2 years since I last played with these younger fellers. I held my own wining mostly with a couple players as we played with different players. There were 5 of us which gave you a break every 5th game. I needed the break as its been awhile and I left after an hour and half of play with a soaked shirt. We could hear thunder in the distance and the forecast was for rain in the later hours. We did get some rain before heading into sleep around 11 after watching the Lightning clinch the Stanley Cup once again for the second year in a row against a good Canadian team, 1-0. Our goalie was awesome and the victory occurred at home. What a celebration which is good for the Tampa Bay area. Now we need a repeat on the Super Bowl with the Bucs and the Rays in the World Series, LATER

The flowers and the garden is doing well and this much needed rain fall will help. I harvested my first bunch of lettuces for the salad bowl
