Wednesday Morning..Sept 4th

Well Tuesday was a work day but I didn't get a whole lot accomplished as I tuned into the US Open and Ray's baseball after lunch and to the weather channel checking on the progress of Dorian. It seems its finally starting to move away from the Bahamas's which is a blessing. I've never been there but understand its a tropical paradise which is now in ruins from this storm and several folks have lost their lives as well as their homes.

I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric while I posted this ramble then some quiet moments with my Creator in thanksgiving and lifting up several by name. It seems the FHP family has lost another member and this one was my second director Colonel Burkett who passed on this weekend; at least he was older than myself. Everyone else is good as can be expected. Sister Pat gave us a progress report on Paw Paw and he seems to be doing better since his last trip to the VA hospital. Age has become a big part of his issues and there is not much you can do about that.

I piddled around in the gardens and decided to give everything a coat of lime, hoping by sweetening the soil everything will start producing. I'm still getting a couple cucumbers every other day but the rest of plants just do not seem to be excited except for the kale which is doing great. The deer keep the beets even with the ground and now that seems to be along with my black eyed Susans the only thing they like. I'm watering daily as its been several days since we've had any rain. The rain barrel is almost empty as I like to use that when possible. I did go around the yard and chopped out some roots that where starting to show in various places which have become a nuisance while mowing but other than that I didn't get much accomplished.

We took an evening hike as Nancy wanted to get laundry on the line around mid morning. It was beautiful out just before dusk fell so we took a golf cart ride to the top of the mountain after going to the mailbox. She turned the a/c back on as the crickets and cicada's where so loud after dark. I did manage to watch the Ray's lose one game of a double hitter but won the late game and then Federer was tied at two all in the 5th set. I'll check the box scores later after posting this ramble, LATER
