Well Saturday turned out to be a rather nice day especially after a rainy Friday night and foggy morning. The rain had cleared out after dropping 3/4 of inch of rain which really was needed despite the several inches a couple weeks ago. We did get another shower later in the afternoon but it didn't last long. Saturday also was my big day at 76 years young and instead of going out to celebrate I decided to go fishing at our mountain mom's pond and then have her over for a supper of fried bass. More on that later.
I started the day with a 6'ish roll out to my routines that start with some quiet time to honor my Lord, give thanks for another day and lift up several after posting this ramble. I did get in my solo hike to the top of the mountain and continued my talk with GOD venting at times why we have allowed the corruption in politics to flourish today and why there is no healing of our land.
I came back and checked the gardens pulling another couple cucumbers and then ate a leftover pancake before packing up my fishing equipment and heading over to the pond around 9'ish. Well I used fishing worms to start with and put several small to medium size bass and a couple blue gills in the bucket for our supper then I wanted to catch the big ones for fun using plastic worms and while I did catch a couple more small bass on the artificial bait I never landed the big ones. I fished until close to noon when there was thunder in the back ground.
I caught enough for a good size pan of fillets and we had some leftovers. Nancy has a pot of bird eggs beans(October) cooking and along with some Jasmine rice and sliced cucumber in a dressing and a pan of cornbread we feasted, Delicious and then from my blue berry patch I picked a day ago she made a cobbler, Yikes was that meal ever the best for a big day celebration and to have Helen here for the first time in years was a real present. She can't get in and out of my truck so I drove over and we brought her car back which she still drives weekly. She needed lots of help getting up the two steps onto the back porch but she made it with our help. She throughly loved the new kitchen and the beautiful flower beds and the fish from her lake.
Well she stayed for a couple hours then I took her home. She did great and seemed to really enjoy getting out. We reminisced about old times and folks and had lots of laughter. Now that she has once again come to supper and a visit, hopefully she will feel good enough to come again. She has lived alone for 20 some years since Roy passed away. She and Roy are responsible for us finding this piece of GOD's beautiful creation and we have so much loved this part of the area and for sharing it with family and friends.
After getting back from dropping her off I helped finish washing the dishes as Nancy is having some tummy issues. We aren't sure if its her gall bladder or a kidney infection so if it doesn't get better by Monday we will head to the urgent care facility and have her checked out. I watched the Ray's blow a one run lead with their best pitcher on the mound and they got slaughtered by the end of the game, LATER
