Well it was another rather nippy day for the sunshine state that started out with frost on all the roof tops. I'm glad I had covered my most tender plants but the trees that surround my house seem to shield the gardens and yards from any damaging ice. I slept in again as I was going to forgo any pickle ball play today due to attending the funeral services for our friend Joshua White at 10 AM. Speaking of Josh its a shame he passed at the young age of 24 and I suspect when the investigation is complete there could be criminal charges as a result of his death from someone spiking his drink with a drug.
Well we have the heat on and with the strong north breeze it been on most all day despite the bright sunshine. It did warm up enough in the late afternoon to turn it down for a couple hours but by evening the temps dropped once again into the high 40's. We started the day with our usual quiet times and a lite breakfast before getting ready to head out for the memorial service in Largo and afterwards back to our old church for food and fellowship. I would estimate between 3 and 400 folks attended this service to remember Josh. There were stories of laughter and tears and we saw lots of old friends we hadn't seen in years. Some from as far away as Orlando came to honor his memory.
We just chilled after getting back from the luncheon and I uncovered my garden plants and deemed it wasn't necessary to cover them again tonight. The temps got up into the low 60's and felt rather nice out until after dark. We are in for another front pushing through that might bring some rain and cooler temps but none that are calling for a freeze. I have more beans to pick and I picked a couple more tomatoes that are ripening.
I had taken a couple packs of cubed deer steaks as we were having GG for supper and along with a broccoli from Tyler's garden and a salad from mine we had us a feast. The girls baked a sweet 'tater but I passed on it as I has a large lunch at church. I grilled the steaks and that is one marvelous tasting meat and so nutritious as well with no steroids or harmful additives. I could eat that red meat forever and never miss another piece of beef. Nancy took GG home after the clean up as she was dozing on the couch during the news.
We settled into the news until it was Gold Rush time for me as I enjoy that reality show. It gets a little mundane at times as they repeat part of the last segment into the next but I find their work exhilarating and with the promise of striking it rich from their efforts in a land that is somewhat harsh but breathtaking. After a hot shower I read until it was lights out around 11, LATER
