Well its so dang hot "the horses are freezing the fields because the corn is popping and they think its snow and their laying down and freezing to death". I know its an exaggeration but its nearly the truth as its been the hottest in years for this date. We did the picnic and left early as it was over 119 degrees with the heat index. We spent the evening in the a/c watching the Olympics, eating fresh corn on the cob and then playing Euchre until late in the evening.
We visited with lots of family at the picnic and saw the newest member of the family at 3 months who was sister Pat's great grandchild and was paw Paw's first great great grandchild. Uncles Frankie and Junior where there and holding strong as was lots of old childhood friends. It was too hot for me to eat the country ham dinner but I did have a large bowl of ice cream. The Blue Grass Band finally started playing around 2'ish and sister Josie and I did do one boot scooting dance as it was just to hot to do much of anything even in the shade of the large oak's. I told many folks when a now Florida boy starts sweating here in the mountains it was time to head out and thats what we did around 3'ish.
We picked up a dozen ears of fresh picked corn in the shuck at a local market and ate them with some jalapeno poppers around 6'ish along with some fresh garden grown tomato's, onions and cukes. We decided to play some Euchre which ended up playing three games and the guys finally won for the first time in years at this venue. It was going on midnight when I finally got into the shower and got ready for some horizontal lab, LATER
