Well Monday started out with chilly temps and by the afternoon it was hot in the sun. The ride to the Rec. was rather nippy but it's amazing how quickly the outside air warms here in central Florida. There was plenty of blue skies with bright sunshine. We had our lunch gang minus GG who was out with some of her singing friends. Eliza Faye is starting that phase where everything you say to her is "NO" for the answer. Oh how we remember those days.
I started the day with my usual roll out of 6'ish and then my routines of a few quiet moments with my Creator and the posting of this ramble about yesterdays activities. I had my usual apple for breakfast then got ready to ride out on my bike for close to two hours of pickle ball at the Rec. We had some good rallies and managed to keep the challenge court among 6 players for most of our workout. There were at least 12-15 other players using the two other courts that had players with different levels of experience and expertise. I had a wet shirt by the time I left around 9:45.
I made a stop at the library to drop off a couple reads and then headed home to work in the gardens. It looks like most of the Bibb lettuce seedlings will survive at this point and there are a couple new cucumber seedlings popping through the ground. I picked another colander full of green beans and we had those for supper. Everything is loving these warm days and cool nights but we are dry. There is some rain in the forecast but for only a small amount. I'm back to watering twice a day by hand especially the lettuces and beans.
After Amy and Eliza left for the day I settled into finishing the book REVENANT by Michael Punke. It is an awesome read and the kind of story I could see myself surviving in the wilds as he did. I was just a little disappointed at the ending as it left me wanting more especially about the life of Jim Bridger who was a famous mountain man along with with Hugh Glass. Oh well maybe there will be a sequel to this story. Most of it is based on real facts but some was created to keep the story interesting especially the survival aspects.
Well we had a couple New York steaks in the freezer so Nancy pan fried them and I must say that maybe this is my new/old way of preparing red meat for the plate. They were so tasty and tender and I now ask myself is that not the way to prepare meat in such a short time. I love to grill but pan frying at high heat with just a touch of olive oil is so good and quick, Yeow. We had fresh green beans and salad both from the garden to accompany these steaks, oh well. After the clean up we settled in the Fox news channel and watched the O'Reilly Factor before I headed for the showers. Afterwards I watched a little college round ball until the sandman calleth before 10 ish, LATER
