Wednesday on Thursday Morning

Well the morning started out with overcast skies but by mid-morning the sun was out shining with deep blue skies. After our quiet times I had a hearty breakfast of fried left over taters and a couple eggs with a hot pepper in the mix. I almost forgot to mention one of the eggs had 2 yokes. I haven't had a double yoker in years. Anyhow after starting the gastric juices flowing I loaded up the golf cart with my tools and headed once again into the backwoods yard to tackle the moss problem.

I worked steady for a couple hours digging, raking and carrying off huge amounts of the green stuff and dumping it into the woods where it belongs; not in my yard choking out the grass. I broke for lunch and by now it's close to 80 with pretty high humidity. Nancy had a couple loads of laundry on the line and she thought it was too hot and humid to take our morning hike. I was bathed in sweat so we decided to hike after supper. We had a lite lunch of salad and the last of the smoked chicken on top and afterwards I headed back out to the yard for more digging and raking.

Suddenly the skies darkened and the thunder roared and she barely got her laundry off the line when the skies opened up with 3/10 of rain for about 45 minutes. The storm passed as suddenly as it came up so I headed back out to work until supper time. It was quite muddy so it was gum boot time but I wanted to clean up the piles of moss I had dug up and then get a coat of pelletized lime on the areas freshly cleaned of moss. I just about finished with lime spreading when the skies clouded back up once again and the thunder and this time lightning started its parade. I was whupped so I called it a day and beside the rain never quit until sometime after dark. We never did get in our daily hike.

I peeled and deveined some shrimp we purchased for our company and we never got around to using them so we made shrimp tacos, yeow were delicious. We sauteed the shrimp in some chipolti spices along with garlic and then put them on a soft taco roll up with fresh cucumber for the crunchy, fresh sliced sweet onion and sour cream with just a dash of Taco Bell sauce. After supper we were speaking with our mountain mom on the phone and lightning struck somewhere close shutting off the power momentarily. I could never get back on the Internet until this morning but the T.V. came back on so it looks as if we dodged some damage. That strike came out of nowhere as the storm seemed to have passed by. The rain was still falling heavily and continued well into the night. Just what we needed more rain after nearly 15 inches of the wet stuff last week, oh well!!

Today(Thursday) we are heading into Sparta for a library run and then lunch at a little restaurant and pick up a few items from the vegetable stand. I will let one area of the back yard that needs some moss digging go for another day, LATER
