Well Saturday was a super day of relaxing at the beach and celebrating our oldest grand daughter Ava's 8th birthday with all of our kids and grand children present for an awesome supper of smoked pulled pork and all the trimmings. The day started with a sleep in until nearly 7 'ish for a change and then we did our usual morning routines including a few quiet moments before getting ready to spend a couple hours soaking up the sun at Redington Shores Beach.
We saw another couple from SFBC there with their son and grandson and we visited with them before calling it a day around 12:30. It was a little breezy and there were a few rain clouds around as well as a water spout out in the Gulf. But it didn't interrupt our walk in the surf and laying out. After a lite lunch of guacamole we headed for the showers and then to relax for the next couple hours before heading over to the Ross house for the big party and supper.
I did get in a little garden work as I moved my tomato seedlings up into the 9 packs to carry to the mountains for transplanting as well as put a chicken wire fence around the new beets and kale to keep the pesky squirrels from digging up the new seedlings. I watched them and they were really trying their best to get inside the fence and they may do it yet as they are the nosiest critters yet and very determined to get into what ever they want. I've just about cleared everything from the garden except the onions, herbs and tomato plants that are still producing as well as my carrots in the side garden.
We picked up GG around 5 then headed over to the delicious smell of smoked pork butts permeating throughout the house. Amy had a huge pot of pinto beans, mac and cheese and Nancy made Cole slaw. Nancy also made the chocolate cake and decorated it for Ava as well. The food was delicious and while I passed on the mac and cheese and buns I had seconds on all the rest as well as a piece of the cake. Amy has begum as good a cook as her mother and GG. We watched Ava open her presents and then it was close to bath time for all the kiddos before Bobby and his kiddos headed out for Tampa. They would be asleep by the time they got home so all he had to do was put them to bed.
Well we headed out shortly after Bobby left and learned the Ray's came from behind to win the ball game but our Lightning loss big time to the Red Wings in Tampa. They go back to Detroit for what could be the final game of their season if they lose there on Monday. It was a fun day for us and one where we had our grand kid's all together. They really play great together and love one another's company.
Well today is worship day at the warehouse in Tampa for the"gathering" of our house church members and afterwards we are meeting with our house church gang for a
pulled supper at the Botbyl's house later in the evening for smoked ribs and all the fixin's. Yikes there goes my spare tire being inflated once again, oh well I will have to work harder this week on the pickle ball court, LATER
