Monday Morning in Florida

Well as you can tell the rain has kept us in Florida for another day. We were all packed and up at a little after 3 when we checked with the weather channel and saw where there were some lane closures on I-77 and I-26 in Columbia, S.C. with 4-6 more inches of rain predicted. Well it didn't take us but a minute to decide on the safe side so back to bed we went. We later saw where extreme flooding has inundated that area with many local roads washed out. Hopefully the interstate is in tact and so we will try to head out Tuesday morning as the rain is supposed to stop some time today. We saw no need to be stuck in traffic backups when we could stay here in not as hot, sunny Florida.

We slept in or tried to as I was geared up and ready to go. All of our belonging were in the back of the truck and we at first thought we would leave on Monday just a day later so we didn't start to unpack until later in the day when we decided since the rain was still accumulating to wait another day. Amy and Tyler came by after church(we did our quiet times at home) and took us to an oriental eatery in Pinellas Park for lunch. Wow was their food ever fresh and delicious. I will eat there again in the future. It's called Jade and it's in a strip store. I love the freshness of Asian food and this was a combination of several cultures with a dish called pho, fried rice, egg rolls and a baked crock dish. The grandkids love this food and ate great. They beg their parents to eat there often and the server knew them well. Even little Eliza was putting it away with two hands. Sam was adding fresh herbs to his pho as well as informing me on how good the fresh herbs tasted and while Nancy at first wasn't to keen on the idea of Asian food she really enjoyed it especially her baked dish with lots of fresh veggies and rice.

It rained hard here off and on for most of the day and at times the sun was shining while pouring rain. We tuned into the hapless Bucs as they played the Panthers here in Tampa and was routed once again with inept play and players. We desperately need a kicker as once again we left several points on the field. The Ray's however was another story. They won on Saturday night in a come from behind victory that Tyler took Sam to watch and then yesterday afternoon for the last game of this season they beat the team that eventually won our division with 12-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. We were just a few games short of making the wild card playoffs. We have some very young players and if we can hold onto them for next year we should have a great roster of players and a great future for winning.

I lazed around most of the afternoon glued to the tube switching back and forth between baseball and football. There were a couple upsets in the NFL and while the Rays were out of the playoff picture they brought some great excitement to the home crowd and to our area. Whereas we pay these football players great money and they let down on the field. I think Bobby was at the game and he along with me are diehard hometown fans; however I must start to root for players who give it all in the game.

Amy dropped Eliza off as they had a church function and we so enjoyed her company. She is just precious and has so many different facial expressions. She now is jabbering away but knows exacting what you are saying. We had such a great time with her and she is a busy body as she never slows down. We will sorely miss her and all of the grand kiddos but she is just so dang cute we just want to love up on her. She associates cards with the happy birthday song and goes around singing happy, happy, happy.

Well it was close to 8 when they picked her up. We gave her a bath and had her pj's on and she was fighting sleep as she rarely naps any more except for when traveling in her car seat. She rough houses with the older kids and is just tough as nails always coming back for more. Well that was about it for the day as I hoped I would get some sleep. I never slept Saturday night in anticipation of the 3'ish wake up to head out and I did stay up and watched most of the late game on the tube. The lowly Saints made a great showing on the field with a win over the Cowboys.

I'm heading out this morning for some pickle ball at the rec in hopes to tire myself out and at least get some cardio workout for a couple hours. The knee seems to be doing fine and once we get back to the cabin I will get plenty of workout on the hills and hopefully some hikes. Seems with all the traveling I've added a few pounds from the great eating to the spare tire. Hopefully my next post will come from looking out onto the backwoods yard in the mountains from the dining room table. I see where Fall has arrived there with temps down at night requiring the heat to be on, Yikes. What a change that will be.  I understand we have had over 15 inches of rain as well and the leaves have started turning as well. Hopefully a few are still hanging despite the heavy rains. Its too bad some of the water couldn't head west as they really could use a drink as they are in such a drought for the past 4 years or so, oh well, LATER
