Well Saturday was a busy fun filled day with some very good eatin' once again with friends. The weather held with no rain and the temps stayed down with very little humidity. We actually turned the a/c off during the evening and ate our supper outside on the deck. The gals shopped down off the mountains and guys did a workout at the Wellness Center and then again with our mountain top hike in the afternoon.
I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric while I posted this ramble and then spent some quiet time with my Creator in thanksgiving and lifting several up by name. All seem as well as can be expected and I've heard nothing to the contrary. Amy was at our Florida home with the a/c folks who cleared the drain line and got the unit back in operation. Tyler graduated form USF with a Master Degree in Cyber Security which is job related, kudos to him as it wasn't easy but he finished top in his class.
We ate lite for breakfast before heading off to Sparta to work out and meet up with the Tracy's. I got a load of laundry on the clothesline before we left around 10. The girls had the whole day together; shopping both for clothes and food for the Tracy's as they restock their rental cabin. We did an hour or so workout then headed for the car show in town and saw some great restored old vehicles some nearly a 100 years old that still run and looked awesome as well. I saw a few familiar faces and hugged a few necks as well before we headed over to JB's for the best pizza in town. We shared a large supreme and was it ever delicious and they had bread sticks for free which were awesome as well. We got our carbs for the day until the evening feast.
We headed back to the cabin around 1'ish and settled in for a quick rest while we digested then off to the top of the mountain. Most everyone was gone on top and we did the trip in about 45 minutes. We came back and I put in a pork loin roast bone-in in the oven for the gals as well as sat out the already peeled taters to get room temperature. The girls called and reminded up to put the sauerkraut in the roast pan in another hour as well as take the Nathans and Kielbasa out to thaw. We would eat around 5:30 after a little fruit of the vine outside on the picnic tables in the shade of the tall trees surrounding the cabin. What a great evening with food and friends.
After the cleanup which I washed the plates as it was my choice of paper or glass and I choose glass so I washed and Patrick dried. He and I are a team when it comes to the cleanup and dishes needing washed. Nancy put in a frozen apple pie to bake and we had that about an hour later with vanilla ice cream while we played a couple card games and then a game of dice which is fast and fun. The Tracy's headed out just before dark so we played another game of dice until 9'ish then everyone headed for their devices and the TV. Our guests head out this afternoon(Sun.) around 3 for their plane ride back to St.Pete.
We will skip the Cornerstone service at the river bottom and worship with our church BridgePoint on line this morning and then have the Tracy's over for lunch before sending Dan and Carol off for home. It's been a whirlwind 10 days and we covered lots of territory and consumed some delicious foods as well. Nancy and I are heading out on Friday for a 4 night visit with sister Dee and Mike in beautiful Woodstock, Va. where we will visit with family for a reunion at the annual Gravel Springs picnic and then again on Sunday at the second annual cousin reunion in Mt.Falls where I grew up. I'm the oldest of all the cousins and we missed the first reunion last year due to visiting Nancy's mom in Michigan. We lost one cousin which I knew from birth and who attended that reunion only to have many of us back for his funeral a few weeks later. I'm looking forward to seeing some never before cousins as well as meeting some long distant relatives that bear the same last name. This should be another fun event of sharing our stories with those who carry our last name and blood line plus some fine country eatin'.
That was about it as I'm happy to report the Tampa Bay Ray's swept our foes in Boston and regained a couple games back on the Yankees, LATER
