Well I must say the weather here changes on a dime as yesterday, Saturday I wore shorts and a t-shirt all day despite a chill in the air to start the morning. It quickly warmed up to the middle 70's and was just perfect. There is no humidity here and after a couple mile hike through a wooded section of the neighborhood I was a dry as a just changed new baby. I will mention the hike a little later in this ramble and the hot springs adventure the guys took to Sierraville.
I started the morning with a sleep-in and did it ever feel great as we now have acclimated to the time difference. It was nearly 7 o'clock when I rolled out of course we had a busy day with all the physical activity the day before. Dan woke up with a stiff back so that helped with our decision to try out a new adventure at the hot springs located about 30 miles or so north of Truckee in the Sierraville area. After a large breakfast that Carol had put together of sausages and french toast slathered with butter and authentic maple syrup; Patrick and I decided to take a walk in the hood and try out this trail that was marked along side one of the streets. Well this was awesome rocky up and down hike that went alongside a small creek. We learned this trail would eventually end up in Reno, Nevada about 50 miles or so away. We entered some heavy woods and steep rocky areas and eventually we noticed on our right what appeared to be dwelling up on top of this hill. I had a feeling the trail paralleled the main street that led into our 'hood and I was right. We took the chance and climbed the hill and sure enough we noticed the familiar names of the cross streets. We hiked at least a hour and half or more.
We came back to the cabin only to find the gals had taken off to get pedicures and such and left Dan. We decided since noticing and ad for a hot springs that would be a great treatment for Dan's back so off we went. The springs had water coming out of the mountain into a small pool at 108 degrees and then a couple other pools of lesser temps. It was a nice complex where the springs were located but required about a 1/4 mile hike up an incline to reach the pools. It was 20 bucks for three hours but after an hour we were cooked and so well rested we headed out. Dan's back had responded to the soaking and was feeling good. We got back just a few minutes before the gals did and Nancy showed me her first ever manicure. She was quite pleased at the results as was I.
We changed clothes and headed out for Tahoe City to a great Mexican restaurant called the Blue Agave located overlooking Lake Tahoe. We feasted on all different specialties and waddled out of the eatery. It was rather early around 4'ish so the place wasn't packed and we had good service. Afterwards we walked down to the lake itself and Carol was able to put one foot in the water which was one of her goals. Nancy gathered small stones to take back to the grand kids. We walked along the beach area before finally loading up and heading back to the cabin where we chilled watching college football. The Alabama vs Ole' Miss game was a barn burner where Ole' Miss knocked off the number two team in the nation.
Well it was a fun day with great new adventures and some great eating. Today we will visit with the group at Calvary Chapel where we were made to feel welcome last Sunday, LATER..
