Well Friday was a total washout ALL day long and the cold settled into your bones, yikes I'm so looking forward to some warmer even hotter temps. I know I love the cooler but not cold damp miserable temps. I think I ventured outside on to the porch twice during the day as it was that cold and wet.
The day started with me rolling out a little before 7 as those warm flannel sheets are magnet to be between them. The cabin was a snug 70 degrees but outside the rain pounded on the tin roof all day long with the high 30's to start and low 40's through out the day. I did finish Natchez Burning by Greg Isles which is a fantastic story and now there are two more in that trilogy that I will pick up in Seminole. We were expecting a houseful of company for our final feed this year so Nancy was busy making cheese cakes and getting the menu ready for later in the evening. I didn't do much except help with the cabin cleaning and the prep work for the supper.
Our supper was fantastic especially on the cold damp evening with sauerkraut, pork ribs, kilebasa, Nathan dogs, smashed taters and crusty bread and pumpkin cheese cake with fresh whipped cream, yeow what a feed. We had 11 to eat as 2 stayed back due to the weather and one leaving early this morning for a trip back south. It was a grand finale for the year which always ends with this meal on what has always been a cold evening. Several left after eating and those who stayed had a raucous evening of Sequence and the gals won 5-2 for a change. Everyone left around 8:30 so we settled into the cleanup and then the World Series game from L.A.
I hit the shower around 9:30 and then read until 10'ish before calling it a day. The rain was still pounding the tin roof which just makes those flannel sheets so much more comfortable, LATER.
