Well Tuesday after an early morning rain finally cleared off with blue skies and bright sunshine, wow what a beautiful day and no humidity. There was a nice breeze for most of the day and by late afternoon with it being so dry the 70's gave you a chill while sitting on the porch. So we turned the a/c off and opened up the cabin for some refreshing air for a change. The yards finally felt firm under your feet once again as the water continued to dry up.
I started the day much the usual with my routines with a 6'ish roll out to my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric and a slice of fresh ginger root while I posted this ramble and then spend a few quiet moments with my Creator lifting up several by name. All is well except I lost another friend who was a year ahead of me in school and who grew up in our neck of the woods. He actually rode the bus with me for years until we all got drivers license and occasionally we double dated as we dated sisters. He made a career out of the USAF and retired out in Nevada where he raised a family and passed away with week. Everyone else seems to be doing fine as I write.
The east coast of N.C. is under water with all of this rain rapidly moving from higher ground towards the coast and many communities are under water with roads and bridges washed away and this was a Cat 1 storm, oh well. The fact it was a slow mover which brought unbelievable rain was the difference. We had over 8 inches here on the mountain with most of it during a 24 hour period. We headed into town mid afternoon after a hike to the top of the mountain which was awesome. We chatted up with Billy who was straightening out some washed out ruts but saw no one else. We saw where the parkway was closed with down trees and saw many downed trees along another route which had fallen over the road. One place near a small creek was barricades where the bank had washed away from the water over flowing the road. It was a miracle the road didn't wash away as the field nearby was still under water.
We ran some errands and then stopped at the library for some new reads before heading to the grocery for some sale items before heading back to the cabin. Our road held together pretty well considering and except for some wash out clogging one section of the road which I used Gerald's tractor to scrape away. We sat on the porches and read until supper time and then I grilled a couple of steaks we picked up while in town. The evenings now are getting short with the sun hiding behind the tall trees around the cabin. After supper we settled into the news and once again the corruption in the democrat party is so blatant and obvious of their desire to disrupt this duly elected POTUS agenda and his appointee to the Supreme Court. Such a shame, oh well we will hopefully see a red wave of voters this November and send them packing for good.
We got a call from son Bobby as he drove the kiddos to school and we sang happy birthday to Gabe who turned 8 today, where did that time go. I watched the Ray's on the internet and they were winning when I turned out the lights a little after 10'ish, LATER
