Tuesday Morning

Well Monday was one of those lazy days that found us sleeping in as we caught up on sleep that was missed over the weekend. I have a difficult time acclimating to new beds over night for some reason as I grow older; when I was flying in the 60's I could sleep anywhere and usually anytime as our flights varied. It even takes me a night or two to get use to my own bed when we head back and forth between the cabin and Florida, oh well! We had rain early in the morning before daybreak and we had off and on rain showers throughout the day as well. All total was a little more than 3/4 of an inch. The newly sown grass seeds were up and just loving this weather as well as the established lawns. Its the best they have looked all summer.

After our morning routines it was going on 10 o'clock so we made do with a bowl of oatmeal. I do miss those hearty breakfasts we had at the hotel but not the 5:30 wake up to eat them. I ventured out in between the rain showers and checked the gardens and yards. I picked a couple tomato's that finally were turning towards red, a cucumber(the first of the year), some kale, spinach, beet greens and my first cabbage. The cabbage was small but we needed it for the salad and for some reason they were taking a rather long time to head. The deer seemed to have stayed away while we were gone but the rabbits have multiplied as I saw several. We use to never see any in the yards.

We read while it rained and spoke with several on the phone as well as caught up on some paper work. Neighbor Gerald came by for a visit and stayed and ate salad with us for lunch. We had a good visit with him and he is getting antsy about getting back on the pickle ball court. I'm playing this Tuesday evening with the gang from church and maybe the doctor will release him to play as well. We managed to get a hike to the top of the mountain in the late afternoon after a supper of meat loaf, green beans and mashed taters. Yeow was that ever tasty and we have enough leftover for sandwiches for lunch. That was about it for the day as we spoke with Bobby and Amy. Tyler has a week off before starting his new job and they(Bobby and Amy) both got together with their kiddos on Sunday at the Rays game.

We watched the Little League Series until it was after 10 PM and I was ready for a good nights sleep after a hot shower and one chapter with Sandra Brown, LATER
