Monday Morning October 18th

Well Sunday was rather chilly to start the day with temps in the high 30's but the wind chill had it down close to freezing or at least it felt that way and it stayed chilly all day long. There was plenty of sunshine but the wind stayed up there in the 5-10 mph zone with leaves and pine needles every where on the ground. It also was a day of worship at Cornerstone where we heard the personal experience of a man who nearly lost his life in a motorcycle crash gave credit to GOD and to those of us who kept him in food while he under went rehab at home. After the service we met Jake and Katelyn at the Pizzeria for a delicious lunch and then headed home to watch football for most of the afternoon and evening. The gals all headed to Galax for shopping the rest of the afternoon.

I started the day much the usual with a 6 ish rollout to my routines while everyone else slept in and then got in a solo morning hike. It was a cold hike but oh so good to exercise and as I reached the top of the mountain the sun was breaking with brilliant colors. I had my talk with GOD as usual while I dodged limbs down on the trail and it was covered in leaves and pine needles as the wind was very strong overnight. I noticed the wind chill made the few remaining plants in the garden look as if they had been covered with frost. I did harvest about 30 jalapeno's for poppers for our cook out on Thursday before they were ruined.

The deer have just about eaten off all of the lettuce seedlings which usually sustain the cold but there isn't much left of them. We had eaten such a large lunch so that just a bowl of leftover soup was all we needed for our supper. We did get in a couple games of Euchre after Kathryn retired around 7'ish. The gals won both games, LATER
