Well Tuesday wasn't as wet as has been the past several evenings. We did get a small sun shower around 6'ish but not the usual monsoon that's been inundating us each evening. There was plenty of hot sunshine through out the day and of course after lunch it was stay in the house due to the heat and humidity. We got together with our regular 6 house church gang for a delicious supper of pulled pork, mac and cheese and Cole slaw with an unbelievable delicious peach pie. There is no doubt it was the best I've ever eaten. We then taught the newbies(Dan and Carol) how to play Euchre and it was the first time we had ever played a 6 hand game. Well I have to admit the gals won on the last hand as we set 9 PM for the cut off time to call it a night.
After my quiet time and the posting of this ramble I ventured out on my bike to the rec for some hour and a half of pickle ball. I'm slowly building up my stamina for daily play and no amount of hiking will get you in shape for this game on a daily basis. We had 2 courts in action with a couple folks waiting to get into the action. As long as you were winning you saw very little set down time as the winners split and got new partners each game. We had some great rallies and lots of wet shirts. I headed out around 9:30 as I was whupped plus I wanted to get some yard work in before it got too hot.
I mowed the yards and then cleaned up the smoker after the yesterdays meal. That kept me busy and once again I had a soaked shirt from the sweat. Was it ever nice to finally get in out of the humidity and relax in the a/c until late afternoon. I finished a new read titled UNTIL OUR LAST BREATH about a few Jewish partisans who escaped the death camps and fought with the Russians against the Nazis. Their story is horrific of what occurred in just one area where the German's were in control in Lithuania. The book is very well written with lots of original pictures.
Amy, GG, Sam and Eliza Faye came for lunch and little LeeLee( nickname for Eliza) is warming up to us at last with lots of smiles. It will be very hard to leave this Sunday for a month especially since she is starting to recognize us. It has taken her several days to really feel comfortable around us and then we are going off and she will miss us as will we miss her even more. That was about it for the day as Nancy had her mom GG out to a doctor's appointment for her inter ear. It seems she has some fluid within and they put a drainage tube in to relieve the pressure and help with her hearing. She is in remarkable shape for her age and when you compare her health with Jesse(Carol's mom) who is younger in age there is quite a significant difference especially with her mental capacity. Jesse has really gone down hill these past 4 months we have been away
to the point she can't be left alone; whereas GG still lives alone and is quite active with her social life as she still sings in a chorus weekly. We are fortunate she is in such good health, LATER This is a picture of our house church minus a couple youngers ones. We regularly get together for doing life together with food, fellowship and games at Dan and Carol's now that they are caring for her mother(Jesse) who lives in the house.
