Well Sunday was another beautiful day with awesome temps, lots of bright sunshine and blue skies and a great day of worship here at the cabin with our BridgePoint Family on the internet and then again at Cornerstone in Sparta. After church we met up with Patrick at the local Japanese eatery for a delicious lunch which held me the rest of the day. Kathryn was too tired after the event last evening.
I started the day with a 6'ish roll out after a late night to my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric while I posted this ramble then spent some quiet time with my Creator giving thanks and lifting up several by name and many folks who are going to be affected by this Category 5 hurricane Dorian. It seems thus far our family will not be impacted by the storm but its still out there about 100 miles off shore and rather stationary as it pounds the Bahama's and is forecast to go north at a slow speed causing havoc along the east coast. If it stays off shore the damage should be minimal but there is always the water surge and heavy rains that bring flooding. We can only hope it does not come ashore.
After lunch we headed back to the cabin to chill. We both read and napped until around 4'ish before we took off on a hike to the top of the mountain. We encounter several folks on top and had a nice visit with many. We met Ben and Laura's grand daughter and her three youngun's who were just fun to be around. They found a stray dog which we later learned belonged to the Todd's down off the mountain. They were very concerned for Daisy's(the dog) welfare who was very gentle and loved being with the kiddos; it even followed us back to the cabin. We came back and I hand watered the gardens and flower beds until nearly dark.
I harvested my first two large cherry tomatoes for this season and do have many more on the vines. I pulled a couple more cucumbers and found several more small ones on the vines as well. I think I may have the worm situation under control as of right now but this beautiful weather is great for the butterflies which lays their eggs on the leafy green plants and I'm sure I may have to dust the collards and kale in the days to come. The new lettuce seedlings are showing some great color and the jalapeno peppers are showing some small ones finally. The deer ate some of the flowers down to the ground but they are coming back with some new growth as well with these beautiful temps and my hand watering.
We skipped any supper except for a couple appetizers leftover from Saturday then we settled into a couple episodes of TURN on the Netflix. Afterwards we hit the shower and I tuned into the US Open and watched the number 1 seed go down two sets to an older player seeded 23rd and finally he retired in the third set which was quite the upset. It was after 11'ish before I hit the sack and then slept in this morning until 7:30 for a really big change. The air is cool this morning with temps in the low 60's and perfect for a get together with friends and neighbors for a Labor Day celebration around 5'ish. Well that was about it as we pray for those who have been harmed by this storm and for those who are still in harms way. It seems Labor Day is usually watching or waiting on a hurricane at this time of the year. We can only hope it blows itself out as it heads north in the open water, LATER
This was the lineup for FaithFest on a fan handed out to everyone who entered the gate and then Nancy's idea of cute hats for our twin boys who are due in January.
