Sunday Morning

Well Saturday was a work outside kind of day and I spent all morning and a couple hours after a lite lunch outside. There was a hint of rain with clouds and a strong breeze and the clouds helped to keep the high humid heat bearable. Then around 5' ish we headed over to the Tracy's for a delicious supper and a game of cards.

Well the morning started with us actually lounging in the sack until nearly 7. We had no plans for the morning so after my usual quiet moments to spent with my Creator and then posting this ramble and of course checking the social media and what was happening in the world on the internet I made myself some burritos for breakfast. When I went out to the garden to pick a fresh jalapeno pepper I noticed how nice it was outside and I decided to get in some yard and garden work after eating. I know I needed to get the fence rows cleaned out which will make it easier when we leave in about 6 weeks for the summer.

I edged the entire property, pulled weeds and raked as well as fertilized the yards. On a sad note in my garden I lost a collard plant overnight as the stem on one of the 5 plants rotted into, yikes I'm not sure what caused that but I still have 4 healthy plants. I want at least another mess before the heat takes it toll on the other 4, oh well its that time of the year when despite watering daily the heat is just much for the leafy green veggies. I picked a couple more cucumbers giving one to my neighbor and the other Nancy put with the salad we took to the Tracy's. That whole salad was made from my garden; green pepper, sugar peas, bibb and oak leaf lettuces, kale, sweet Texas onions, carrots and tomatoes. Wow it ever tasty as we dined on chicken stroganoff and some finger foods and dips before setting down to this delicious gourmet meal with a little vino before and with supper.

After the clean up we settled into a game of OH -ELL which is a fast card game Nancy's folks taught us many years ago. We watched the Ray's beat the White Sox 7-2 in between plays. Finally the hitting gave the pitchers for the Ray's some back up as their bats have been silent for most of the season so far. It's early in the season but still they are playing below .500 baseball despite this they are still drawing a decent fan base which helps the home team.

We headed home after both games(Dan won the card game on the last hand)and dropped Dan off as he went with us. Carol was off with her fellow staff from ETC on a retreat to Lake City so Dan was a bachelor for the weekend. We had a fun time and the food was marvelous.  Today we volunteer at Bridgepoint Church as a greeter during the 10AM service. They are such a coordinated staff with lots of dedicated volunteers and we are thrilled to be plugged into the program in helping folks draw closer to GOD. It's such a privilege to be a small part and to be involved.

Well that was about it for the day. My muscles were tired after being on my feet for most of the day and the bed felt good by 11'ish LATER

Here is a pictures of the harvest for the day from the garden.
