Well since I was last on this venue I've travelled over 700 miles and left cold temps of 30's to a nice 80's degrees when we got back to our place here in Seminole. I knew the time was changing on the day we left but still wanted to leave on old time which was an hour earlier. Nancy wasn't happy but I never sleep the night before and even sometimes two nights before when making that big change either coming or going. I have my mind working all through the night on remembering all I have to do before leaving especially in the mountains where I have to winter the cabin with draining the system and making sure I put antifreeze in all of the traps and draining the cabin down to the hot water heater which is the lowest for water to exit in to the drain in the floor of the basement. I work hard for an hour while she spends the whole time in front of the mirror complaining about me being so hyper busy and raring to go, oh well.
The drive down the mountain was uneventful despite seeing tons of live deer along the roadway edges but thankfully none jumped into the road or the truck. We saw lots of live deer as well as some that had died after being hit by vehicles along the way. We came back through Charlotte which is great during the early morning hours and made great time all the way into Florida where we encountered heavy traffic on the interstate, but still got back in a little less than 12 hours after making a couple food stops, potty stops and then and then some walking a few minutes stops. We usually have our stops planned out but used different ones this time except for the welcome center at the Florida line.
We were unloading the truck before 3 at home and then turning on the water and flushing the pipes and all the things you do when changing residences after being gone 5+ months. It's sure a change here with no hills and walk ups. The yards looks decent but the gardens patches are over grown and I will spend the day cleaning them out and then off to purchase bedding plants for the season. I did bring back a couple tomato seedlings and some dill plants but not sure if they will make.
Amy and Tyler and the grands were thrilled to see us and prepared a delicious supper of grilled salmon on cedar planks for us along with a pasta dish and some broccoli and a glass of red wine to accompany. We gave them the portrait of Rocky we had painted for them by wife of an old class mates. They were thrilled with the picture and Rocky wanted to bite it because he thought it was another dog, how funny. The only hiccup was getting the HULU to work in the living room. I had it working in the bedroom right away but not in the big room, oh well. I'll work on that at a later time.
I soon hit the shower after getting back around 8:30 and was in the horizontal position soon there after. This is a totally different life style and we are blessed to experience both with seasons and different landscapes. Neighbors here were thrilled to see us as well a we were sad to say good bye to so many in the mountains, LATER
