Well Wednesday was another work day with a delicious supper and cards games afterwards with friend and neighbor Steve who will be here until this weekend when he returns to Seminole. We took our morning hike together around 7:30 to the top of the mountains and views were much nicer but still distant views were hazed and full of fog or mist. All in all it was a great hike and we saw no one out and about.
I had started the day with a well before 6 rollout to my routines that start with some quiet times to honor my lord, Jesus, give thanks for another day and to lift several up by name for comfort and healing. Helen seems much better as Nancy spoke with her and I listened in while pulling weeds in the front flower bed. She seems at times a little confused and I'm sure that comes with her age.
I headed out after a breakfast of cherrios as the milk needed to be used after the grands left to putter around in the gardens. So far the deer have been kind and not destroyed my veggies except for one time when they ate off some lettuces and pepper plants. I did transplant into the garden proper some Swiss chard and kale seedlings that I had started from seeds. Everything else is maturing and now the pepper plants are blooming as are the squash plants. Nancy made a yellow squash with pea pods in a stir fry over Jasmine rice for supper which was delicious to say the least, along with grilled marinated chicken breasts.
I fired up the chain saw and made some cuts in the two large oak stumps I'm burning out this summer. They are slowing burning up but it will take many more burns to get down to ground level. Between the saw cuts and the drilled holes and the fat wood or lighter knots I'm using I will eventually burn them away. Its a chore but not nearly as tough as I did one summer when I dug out 8 or so stumps by hand. Now that was a job that I will never forget.
Nancy had several loads of laundry drying outside on the clothes line during the day and I think we have caught up on that chore since the grands are gone. We await the other set of grands in about 10 days or so for a week and then the laundry starts all over again. We will today skip supper at the cabin and cards as we will attend a couples class at 7 in Sparta but before we will run some errands and have supper out at the Muddy Creek eatery. after Steve left I soon hit the sack around 10'ish after a hot shower, LATER
