Well it's another nippy morning here in the mountains at 51 degrees but no rain (or snow) and I can just see the sunlight as it reaches the tree tops that surround our cabin in the woods. Looks like it going to be a fine day and hopefully much like the gorgeous day we had on Saturday.
Saturday turned out to be awesome with cool morning temps, bright sunshine and blue skies with a nice afternoon breeze with temps in the high 70's. We started the day with a 7:30 roll out and then a few quiet minutes before a lite breakfast of oatmeal with tons of fruit. Afterwards I headed out to check on the gardens for any deer damage and finding none I fired up the weed whacker. It took me nearly an hour to edge the yards and trees in the back woods yard. We decided to take off around 10:30 for our daily hike as we wanted to let Zeke out from his garage as his master had gone off on a road trip earlier in the morning and would be gone until late in the afternoon.
We came back around 11:30 and decided to eat an early lunch of a ham sandwich and leftover potato salad before I started up the riding lawn mower. Well it took all of 2 hours to mow the yards and wow did they ever look good afterwards and the smell of fresh cut grass is delightful to the senses. I wonder why someone hasn't developed that smell and put it in an aerosol can. We love that smell no matter where we are or go. It was going on 3 when I finally finished outside so It was time to make guacamole for the card game along with Nancy's salsa and chips. She had been in the kitchen making cookies for the picnic on Sunday as well as getting ready for tonight's get together. Kimberly was bringing a layered taco dip and Audean a pound cake and brownies. We had us a good time snacking throughout the evening and playing Sequence.
Well for the first time this year of playing the game it was a slaughter to start with as we(guys) won the first 4 straight games and then Gerald left around 9:30. Well Nancy had been playing the extra hand which we call the Harvey or as Ray called it the Dummy hand so after we were down to just the 6 of us as the gals started a come back with 3 wins in a row. It was going on 10 PM and the score was 5-4 for the guys and we played one more hand to see if we needed to play a tie breaker. There was no need to as we lucked out and won the last hand. The gals were at their best accusing us of all kinds of shenanigans and while they did much worst in trying their best to win. They cried all the way out the door but we held on to be victorious as we have suffered their ridicule for years. Guys Win!!!
Well the Rays won as well as the Bucs won, so it was a good night for Tampa Bay. It was time for showers and then some reading before lights at 11:30. Sunday is another busy day with church in the morning at Cornerstone and then a river baptism afterwards followed by a church wide picnic at the ball field and then a soft ball game. What a busy fun filled weekend. We have finally had some great weather and today looks like it will be another to add to the already 2 in a row, LATER
