Tuesday Morning

Well I must say Monday was an ideal day for working outside as the temps stayed in the low 70's with a nice breeze at times and the humidity seemed to be low as well. I did a bunch of garden work, trimmed some lowing hanging bushes and tree limbs in the driveway as well as some bushes at our "mountain moms" place in the afternoon. I used my new grille for the first time as well and we did take our first hike up through the backwoods trail to the back road after supper.

I started the day much the usual with a before 6 roll out just as dawn was breaking. It's so quiet and peaceful this time of the day with only the sound of dew dripping onto the tin roof from the upstairs bathroom dormer. I love to do my morning routines while sitting at the kitchen table looking out at the beautiful trees and flower beds. After my routines of a few quiet moments to honor my Creator and lift up those I know and love while sipping a cup of hot turmeric tea and the posting of this ramble from the day before activities. I must say the activity here is completely different than what I've been accustom to in Florida. Speaking of Florida and our area in Tampa Bay they are receiving some much needed rain fall from this TS Colin which passed through during the day. Some local flooding is occurring as I write.

I heated up the leftover buckwheat cake slathered with real butter and honey for my breakfast then headed outside to check on the gardens. Nancy was just arising as she has become a night owl whereas I'm usually in bed by 10 or so. I never take an afternoon nap as I've been doing in Florida after lunch or settle down to read for hours at a time. We did take a break after getting back from our "mountain moms" place around 3:30 to read until suppertime. We clipped her bushes around her back deck and then cleaned up the mess. I re-potted her three really nice tomato plants with some of my home grown soil and put them in larger pots as they were root bound. She should get a nice crop of tomatoes as they are already blooming. We also helped her set up her HD TV to HD as she picked up a cord at the telephone company. I have another project to do for her later in the week but will need my portable drill to take off her gutter screen which is no longer working to strain the leaves and pine needles on her work shed.

I noticed I now have another bush bean poking through the ground as well as some beets. The morning glory seeds sprung forth and I transplanted them in several places along the back rail fence and on one side of the arbor. They were so beautiful last year with their "heavenly blue" color. I also sowed some okra seeds as well as radishes in the ground along with some sugar peas I've had soaking in wet paper towels to help with their germination. Lots of the seeds had little sprouts and I'm curious to see if this helps or is a bust. I have Bibb lettuce and kale seed poking through the ground in small pots which will need to be transplanted into 9 packs as soon as they get a second leaf before replanting into the garden. All of Nancy's replants look great as well as the Zinnia seeds are sending up new seedlings in the circle drive. We are thrilled with their germination and they will produce some awesome beauty when they begin to mature. They have become one of our favorite flowers and are so hardy as well. I sowed some extra seeds as I want to replant them in the back woods flower beds

Well I grilled Italian sausages to break in the new grille. It of course has 4 burners which will heat up quickly but I used just one burner and they were done in no time. We ate some left over pintos and collard greens to accompany the brats. Well after supper I headed out to hand water with a little mixture of miracle grow and garden magic combined to give the new seedlings a boost then Nancy wanted to hike up the back trail despite her knee issues. I've had knee issues as well but I've been getting plenty of exercise just walking up and down the yards and stairs. Well we made it to the back road which is probably and 18 degree climb which is nearly straight up and then walked along the back road. I could feel a little pressure in my knee as we headed down the trail and decided with all of my physical activities I would forego this event from now on until I'm certain the knee is completely healed and well. She did quite well and said she wanted to do this daily. I'm more inclined to have fun playing pickle ball once a week and working in the yards and garden and let her do this climb for now.

It wasn't long after O'Reilly I hit the shower and then read until 10'ish, LATER
