Well Thursday was a busy day with both some work and play. I hauled a couple loads of rocks for the yards and then took a total of 3 hikes to the top of the mountain as Nancy was off with Kathryn once again shopping so I had the afternoon to myself. They came back and then Patrick and his brother Howard who is visiting from Arizona all came for a delicious supper.
I started the day out with my usual before 6 roll out to my routines that start with some quiet moments with my LORD giving thanks for another day after posting this ramble and finished up on my solo hike to the top of the mountain. It was a beautiful morning and the deer have greeted me the past two morning on the trail. Yesterday was 5 deer that were out and about and this morning just one large one that jumped out near me giving me a startle. These deer are eating well because they all looked to be in good shape.
After breakfast I headed down the driveway to clean out the ditches and rake some gravel as well as loaded up the golf cart with rocks to align some flower beds and then piddled around in the gardens pulling some weeds and hoeing them as well. The ground is still holding plenty of moisture so I loosened the soil hoping for it to dry out and maybe save my squash and cucumber vines. All this rain has all but stopped their production. I'm starting to get a few tomato's but nothing like I thought it would be will these huge plants. The blueberry bushes are having a banner year so we had a fresh blueberry pie for dessert after our supper.
We ate outside on the deck which was so pleasant around 6'ish after the three of us guys took a long hike to the top of the mountain. It was a great evening for that as the gals made the supper. Afterwards we played a game of Skipbo outside and then moved inside as dusk approached for our dessert. We played one 10 round game of OH WELL before they called it a night. After they left I washed the dishes and we put the house back in order and I soon hit the showers and then some horizontal lab.
I did get to watch the Ray's sweep the Angels in the afternoon and we caught the last couple of outs as Tennessee eliminated Texas in the LLWS and will have to play Hawaii again which as a tremendous team, LATER
