Saturday Morning

Well Friday was another busy fun filled day that took us to a small town south of us about 40 miles away. There are two towns one next to the other sharing the same name; Jefferson the old town and  West Jefferson the more modern town with lots of shopping and eateries. It is a rather beautiful drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway which is close to where our cabin is located so we stay away from the twisty winding 221 highway that goes through Sparta.

I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric while I posted this ramble and then did my quiet time with my Creator. I found out and old childhood friend and fishing buddy passed away yesterday, he was a couple years older than me and I'm still shocked at his passing at such an early age. I haven't seen him in over 60 years as once I left home at the age of 17 I lost all contact with many folks. I do my usual social contacts on FB now so as to keep in touch, but never gave him a thought over the years as it is with many folks until you read of their passing in the home town newspaper or some relative informs you. Everyone else seems as well as can be expected as I lift them up daily to my Creator for healing and comfort.

We took off around 10'ish to wonder around the towns in Ashe County which is where the Jefferson towns are located. It's a beautiful area surrounded by the tall mountains on both sides of the valley. We walked the streets and perused the many shops and had a lunch at a small deli which only serves lunch from 11-3. The red pepper soup was delicious along with the roast beef sandwich. The lunch crowd had the place full; both the service was great and the food even better. We did dodge some rain showers and caught a couple showers on the way home. We got back to the cabin around 3:30 then chilled until it was time to head to Sparta for the monthly Music on the Main where several different bands, small groups of musicians and even a few individuals entertain usually on the street but sometimes in different merchants places of business. The threat of rain moved most groups inside or under overhanging porches.

We met up with the Tracy's and Luffmans for supper at the Pizzeria for a delicious supper before walking uptown to view the entertainment. We hugged lots of necks saw many familiar faces and I even soft shoed a dance to some Blue Grass Music on the sidewalk before we left the area. The head liner was inside one store which did limit the number of folks to comfortably watch and listen so we only stayed a few songs then headed for home. I did complete a puzzle against the clock for a prize which I will donate to charity if I win. It was after 9 before we got home then everyone chilled watching TV. It wasn't long until I had my shower and then some horizontal lab around 10'ish, LATER
