Friday Morning...July 12 th

Well first the Ross Family arrived safely although a bit later than anticipated. It was after dark around 9:30 when we could hear the gravel crunching from their tires as they made their way up the steep driveway. The tire that kept them from leaving earlier in the morning was a very short screw which did not cost them anything as the tire man removed it and checked for any puncture. NONE

Thursday for us was busy as we made last minute food preps, cabin cleaning, bed making and general honey do's. Nancy mentioned she never left the cabin until walking out the basement door to shake a rug after supper. She was in the kitchen with food prep most all day except when we made all the beds upstairs and put those rooms in order. I was busy cleaning up some small jobs both on the steep driveway as so much loose gravel was causing one to lose traction and spin their wheels so I raked and moved a lot of gravel around and then worked in the garden and general cleanup down below the back porch which is where I do all of my plant potting.

I did manage to drill two holes in the new toilet paper holder and screw it to the wall in the upstairs bathroom. Now I don't have to worry about the stick'em which is supposed to hold it to the wall. Who every design that should be fired as it fell twice without any paper on it. It's very attractive and slim but the way to mount it was awful. I did take a few minutes after my quiet time and morning routines to dig for fishing worms in my compost pile and found a good 3 or 3 dozen nice fat worms for the kiddos to fish with on Saturday. That is always a must for when they come to the cabin. Our "mountain mom" Helen has a pond stocked with bass and blue gill and we always have so much fun especially when they are biting. She mowed down around the area so we wouldn't have to walk in the high grass. Occasionally we catch enough to have a fried fish supper which the kiddos and the rest of us love.

Bobby and family are on the way from Brandon Florida and hopefully will get here around 4 or so. It will be awesome to have all of our kids and grand kids here for a couple days together and now we are having 2 additional grand kiddos coming in January. Katie, Bobby's wife is pregnant with twins and they were announcing it to Annsley and Gabe and the world on the way up here. We've known for several weeks and while I'm excited to tell everyone I was told to keep it quiet until they were sure. All of the checkup's say both heartbeats are strong and she is right on course with twins and their sizes at about 2 months or so. Bobby was a little shocked at first as both Annsley and Gabe are 11 and 9 years of age respectfully and now to have a two new babies at once will be a huge adjustment but they have already purchased a larger 6 passenger SUV as well as a double stroller. We are thrilled for them and for Katie as this will be her first pregnancy and its twins, YEOW. That will give us the perfect number of 7 grands. I've been keeping this a secret but did let it slip a few times along the way to folks who are not on FB.

Well, I may be challenged on my daily updates with all of this company so bear with me. The cabin is silent as all are still sleeping as I make this post and do my quiet time. We do have the furniture company bringing our modified box springs for the queen mattresses we could not get up the stairs a couple weeks ago, so that will be a big improvement for each upstairs bedrooms. Ave Mae was the first person to shower in the new shower and then Sam as we never remembered to break it in. Everyone was pleased with the new renovations especially the a/c which takes out the humidity and the heat from upstairs. It does cool down at night but still quite warm for bedtime.

We have the basement set up for Bobby and Katie. I noticed the queen air mattress was losing air so I did find a small pin hole and patched the leak. We made the bed down stairs and added some amenities to make it like a small efficiency. They have their own bathroom and fridge plus it stays about 60+ all of the time. The only draw back is the dehumidifier which runs. I believe they will shut it off at nights. Well the next few days will be exciting with food, fun, campfires and adventures. I got the golf cart cleaned up for rides to the top of the mountain. Many thanks to all who kept the Ross Family in your thoughts and prayers for safe travel and they will need them again on Tuesday as they make their way to Kansas for a vacation with Tyler's family after a quick stop in W.Va. to see Paw Paw, LATER
