Well here it is the end of another week and what a difference a week can make as last Sunday we or should I say Nancy was suffering with an intestinal bug which had her glued to the commode. She has fully recuperated from that and even saw a doctor this past week about her heartburn and acid reflux. She is waiting to hear her lab results regarding her magnesium levels which could be part of the reason she has been having such terrible discomfort in the esophagus area. Hopefully with this new regiment of eating smart and an over the counter medicine she will get back to her natural self.
Saturday was once again another hot and muggy day here in Florida. The a/c is on and its become rather hot in the afternoon sun while doing outside activities. It's difficult to see folks freezing on the T.V. at football games while we are sweating. Wow that is some storm that's hitting the north and mid-west and we get no relief from the heat. If only we could get a little rain that would help as well.
The morning started with a 6'ish roll out for me and then I got ready and headed out to the rec for a workout on the pickle ball court for 2 hours after my quiet time and a lite breakfast. Saturdays is an open day for play and while only a few of the advanced players show I still got a good workout. I help with teaching the beginners the facets of pickle ball as well as get to work on my soft game which is a dink and dunk style that is mainly used in outside play and strategy. We had 3 courts going with several waiting to work into the play. This game is becoming very popular here and I'm seeing lots of seniors in the 70+ age range attempting the game. A few of them have some tennis experience which really helps in adjusting to pickle ball play.
I stopped off at the library then headed home to hand water and work in the garden and front yard. It's so dry here that I'm watering the grass now as well and the veggies at least twice a day. The spinach isn't doing well because of the heat as I've now lost a few of the transplants I brought back from the cabin patch and the Swiss chard is wilting each afternoon in the direct sunlight despite watering. Both of them are cooler weather veggies. Everything else is holding on with the mulch and watering. The onions are doing great as well as the bush beans and the tomatoes are starting to really set fruit with lots of blooms. The collards, Brussel sprouts and cabbage do wilt a little but quickly revive when watered.
We watched Ava and Sam from about 2 in the afternoon until about 10 last evening. They had a grand time playing outside towards the evening as the heat did abate somewhat. I grilled chicken legs for them as Nancy made black beans and rice. We cleaned the platters and bowls as they both ate well. Amy said this is one of their favorite meals. After their baths I popped some popcorn the old fashion way and they watched a Christmas movie and then fell asleep. I vegetated to the bedroom and the other T.V. with some college football and the games were very good games but most were played in the cold and freezing temps.
Well today is worship day at Element Church in Tampa and then we head to the nursing home to help with bringing a service to those shut-ins. We are scheduled for a birthday supper at GG's for Betsy's youngest boy Garrett then we are heading to SFBC for their Christmas musical later in the evening. I will try to get in a little NFL football as well, LATER
