Well Thursday was another rather warm sunny day but was a bit nippy early to start the day. Eventually it caused us to turn the a/c back on due to the humidity and temps. I got in a good workout at the Rec. then worked out on the cabinets with the paint brush and redo's. Nancy's brother Eric along with GG, Amy and Eliza Faye all came for lunch as well. Later in the evening we went over to GG's for a supper of baked spaghetti and salad.
The day started with my usual roll out around 6'ish. I did my morning routines that started with a cup of hot green/ginger tea with turmeric while I posted this ramble then I spent a few quiet moments with my Creator in thanksgiving and lifting up those I know by name who are hurting. I haven't heard any more news on Paw Paw or uncle Frankie up in Virginia. The mountains which were having cold temps have moderated again and its well above freezing. I got ready and headed out to the Rec. on my bike for a good hour and half of pickle ball play. We had three courts in action and I left around 9:30 with a wet shirt.
I hand watered the gardens and picked a couple of more ripening tomato's as well as picked the neighbor Bobby and his family a mess of fresh collards. I gave him my recipe which is simple but the best ever which is a whole onion,1/2 lb. of bacon and a box of chicken broth. That's it. That makes the best tasting collards ever in my opinion. After watering I slipped into my paint clothes and went to work on the cabinets. I now have only one section that is still showing brown oak cabinet and thats the lazy Susan in the corner which I have to take apart to get the old handle off. I sure hope that's not a major problem as its on a turn stile, oh well. I now have all of the base cabinets coated with primer and many of the doors have their final coat with just a touch up left with a sponge roller. I still have several more days work ahead but I'm starting to see some results which so far Nancy is thrilled about. I made an appointment with the countertop man to come out on the 23rd so we can choose the granite she wants, so things are moving along.
Well we had a delicious supper at GG's and her siblings were there along Gus and myself. After the cleanup we got into a game of OH -ELL. It was after 9 when we finished and I was slowing feeling the days activities. Being on my feet all day leaves me ready for a hot shower and bed time by 10 at the latest despite the ribbing I take. I now can use the excuse of being 70 when it comes to not staying up later. I did stay up until midnight on new year's eve while our much younger friend Kathryn went to bed early, oh well, LATER
Today is little Eliza Faye' 3rd birthday and we will celebrate at her house with a supper. Nancy made her cake yesterday and she helped. She is such a sweet little girl but oh so smart.
