Well the first day of November was rather warm when on this date last year we awaken to 6 plus inches of the cold white stuff on the ground, wow was that ever a beautiful sight for a day. The temps this morning were in the low 50's and even reached the 60's by late afternoon. The skies were overcast and we had rain showers off and on during the night before and the promise of more rain was evident throughout the day and this morning(Mon.) we awakened to a steady soft rain. We can barely see off the porch with such darkness at 6:30 and last evening it was dark even before this hour, yuck. We are sunshine lovers and look forward to the time change again after only one day, oh well.
Sunday morning found us putting the last touches on some food for our homecoming last Sunday at Cornerstone. Nancy was making cornbread, brownies and had a huge crock pot of white chicken chili to add to the many delicious dishes as well as to the many desserts. These folks in the mountains know how to share their old family recipes with chicken and dumplings, many types of casseroles, pulled pork, salads, slaws and down home cooking. Yeow what a meal and we served around 200 folks. After the clean up it was nearly 3 before we got back to the cabin and already with the over cast skies it was quickly showing signs of dusk. We will miss our church family here and the many great get togethers with them and their love for this community while spreading the love of Christ.
I found the Bucs on the tube who were leading the Falcons by a score of 20-3 and then they blew this lead in the last quarter like they did last week only this time we won in overtime. I really think we are in need of some new coaches as the play calling was atrocious which nearly led to another loss. The rest of the evening was football and baseball for me as Nancy was on the Internet and did finally get into reading while I dozed from time to time before finally calling it a night around 10:30 after a hot shower.
The rain is supposed to abate in the next day or so. We can work inside packing up what needs to be taken back to Florida with us and I can do a few other inside jobs as well; at least the temps are rather moderately warm for this time of the year. I have most of the porch furniture already stored in the shed below as I wanted it to be good and dry before storing it away for the winter. We have tons of leftovers so the food prep will be at a minimum this week except for our last two visitors with Sam and Marcia on Wednesday and Helen and Joe on Thursday, LATER
