Well Friday was a busy day and I'm still doctoring this strained back muscles and I did get a script from the Urgent Care center in Galax,Va. for prednisone. That is the second dose I've received and while it has helped tremendously I'm still feeling some pain down into my right knee and some discomfort still in the lower back. I spoke with my chiropractor doc and he said to still ice the areas and take it easy which I have done except for some minor activity. We did head over Mechelle's in the early evening for a holiday cookout with some friends and mainly her family.
I started the day with a 6'ish rollout feeling some what better than the morning before and I headed over to Galax shorty after doing my morning routines that include my cup of tea, quiet times and then checking the news and social medias. The ride over was very nice with lots of morning critters out on the parkway. I had to wait outside at the facility where they checked my temperature before I could enter wearing a mask. I waited for nearly 3/4 of hour before seeing a CNP who gave me a check up and I had explained I only needed a script for the inflammation fighting drug, prednisone which the chiropractor doc prescribed, anyhow she eventually send me on my way with the script called into the new Walgreens in town and I only had to wait a few moments to pick it up. I took a dose immediately then headed home to eat something.
I spent the rest of the day checking on the smoker which Nancy and I had loaded around 7'ish with a whole fresh pork shoulder for smoking and then make pulled pork for the cook out later in the day. The meat was perfect when we started to pull it around 4'ish and we filled a huge pan of the meat and had enough we kept some for ourselves. We had oven taters, pasta salad, corn on the cob, garlic bread and a wilted lettuce salad and a beautiful cake made to look like a flag with blueberries, strawberries and some fillings. I stayed away from the sugar as the CNP mentioned that using sugar with this drug was not healthy, anyhow I had plenty to eat and then we sat outside on her back porch to watch several of the men play corn hole. I wanted to play but thought the better to not exercise those back muscles just yet.
The views were just magnificent with several of her herd of Gypsy Vanner horses were filling the pasture just below the house and then the Blue Ridge Parkway in the distant. The air was humidity free with very nice temps. Lots of us took turns holding little 6 week old Skylar. Her father, Jake was the man who did the stump grinding for me and we have known her mom Katelyn since she was just a teenager who lived with Mechelle for a spell growing up. Mechelle's brother Eric, his wife Claire and son Dillon who lice near Raleigh were there as well along with her folks Gerald and Kay. We have known them for years now and they are our mountain family. Mechelle's friend Kevin who is paralyzed from the waist down was the main reason we held this event at her house as its wheel chair friendly and he had been excluded many times from these events held at our cabin. He is very independent since his motorcycle crash 16 years ago and he and Mechelle became friends in college before his crash and now are close friends.
Well we played the best of 5 games of Sequence and the gals won three straight so we left for home around 9:30. It wasn't long until I was ready for some horizontal lab after a hot shower and hopefully more healing with a good nights sleep which I had. There is still some pain in the lower back and right knee but it's tolerable at this point compared to the agony from last week. I will take my third dose of the drug this morning between 9 and 10 AM as it's best to keep consistent with the time frame from when the drug was first taken, LATER
