Thursday Morning ..Oct 10th

Well Wednesday was a total fun day as the weather was close to perfect by the afternoon with temps in the high 60's lots of sunshine and blue skies. We headed out around 9:30 to meet up with the Kool Peoples Club minus Patrick who was under the weather near Laurel Springs to ride with Nancy and I down to the Boone/Blowing Rock area after a stop at our friends beautiful house they are remodeling and then going to put on the market. The ride down the parkway was uneventful and we did start to see some leaf change with this cool front and the rain bringing on the colors. It was down right foggy and chilly in Blowing Rock and we were thankful we brought sweaters and jackets.

I started the day much the usual with a 6'ish roll out to my cup of hot green tea laced with turmeric while I posted this ramble then spent some quiet time with my Creator lifting up several by name as well as giving thanks for our many blessings. All seem as well as can be expected. I ate a light breakfast of fruit and yogurt and then headed out on a quick hike up the backwoods trail and then up to the top of the mountain before heading back down. That now takes me about 15-20 minutes and gets the cardio exercise I need daily and then we took a long regular hike around 6'ish after getting back from our day trip just before dusk settled into the area.

Jake and Kaitlyn's place is coming along and both of them are such awesome workers and so talented. They have the place looking like in should be in a magazine especially where its located with the distant views out the floor to ceiling glass windows and doors as well as from anywhere on their deck that runs the length of the house. The workmanship in the house is just excellent and should bring them great rewards and its located just a couple minutes off the parkway and a major road.

It was foggy, and cold as we entered the town of Blowing Rock around noon and decided to find an eatery; one which we had never been to before. The Town Tavern was jumping with nooners and the food was really very tasty and plentiful. While eating the fog cleared out and the sun made for a splendid afternoon. The girls were in their glory with all the quaint shops and we lost them for hours it seemed. There was no one on the pickle ball court in the small park inside the township so Dan and I bummed around some of the rustic shops then sat on a bench over looking the main street and watched people and even dozed at times in the warmth of the sunshine which had finally made its way after burning off the heavy wet fog. We headed over to Boone after the girls had their fill of shopping and the bags were evident they had made some purchases.

We dropped the Botbyl's off at Starbucks, Kathryn at her bank and we headed to Walmart which is within walking distance of both. We needed some non perishables as we didn't bring a cooler which are usually cheaper than the local Food Lion in Sparta. We met the gang at the coffee shop and everyone but me uses their products which I'm not a fan of; anyhow it was time to head back up to our area which is about 65 miles or so a different route for the first 30 miles or so. The trip was uneventful as we dropped them off in Laurel Springs at a place called Dearborns where they stored their vehicle and then we headed on up the parkway to the cabin. It was a little after 6 when we pulled in and unloaded then changed into hiking shoes and headed out. We saw no one on top of the mountain except three deer, lots of rabbits and squirrels.

We got back around 7 and heated up some leftovers from last nights supper and then we settled into the playoff game which was being played in California. I turned the game off after a hot shower and close to 11 and the Nats were losing but came back in the 10th to win the series. They will play the Cardinals who blasted the braves 13-1 in who determines goes to the World Series games. The Ray's play tonight in Houston in their final game and who will play the Yankees who swept the Twins.

Well we are getting ready for some family this weekend who have never been here before and we are excited to show off the cabin and the area. The weather looks to be about perfect for their visit with warm days and cool nights. Nancy has the faux fireplace on which gives off enough heat to take the chill off in the morning hours and then again before bedtime. I'll mow today and do the outside work as she is having her hair colored and cut this morning then she will be busy as well inside, LATER

A couple pics of the view from Jake and Kaitlyn's deck and then one of the town of Blowing Rocks from the benches over looking the park.
