Tuesday Morning August 8th

Well Monday was a rather nice day despite it beings so wet to start the day. The evening rain and the heavy dew kept it very wet outside in the grasses until close to lunch time when the sun and wind finally dried it out enough to not have wear gum boots and then we got about a tenth of an inch of rain after lunch. Thankfully thats all with the forecast for a strong storms, hail and even tornado warnings. It did thunder in the distance for an hour but we got none of the severe weather here, but other areas were hit hard, enough so Nancy's Bible class was cancelled for the evening.

I started the day with my usual 6'ish rollout to my routines that start with some quiet times after posting this ramble to honor my LORD, give thanks for another day and to lift up several by name for comfort and healing. All are holding as I make this post. After a lite breakfast of just a protein shake I headed out to check on the gardens of course wearing my gum boots and everything looked great. I did harvest a couple cucumbers and a couple small tomato's that are turning, finally. The garden is doing so well and hopefully the deer stay away. I need to harvest some lettuces as its really taking off once again with all this rain, as is the kale and finally some Swiss chard and beet greens which all make for a great salad.

I picked a small bowl of blue berries as they start to ripen. It seems all of our friends have finished up their season on them but ours is just starting. I don't get as much sun for them which is the reason they are usually late from our friends bushes. We took off before lunch to the top of the mountain and saw just one person on top. The distant views were not visible once again due to the haze. It was quite pleasant on the hike and we came back and had tacos for lunch around 1'ish. We were going to make that our big meal of the day as Nancy was scheduled for her 7PM Bible class but due to the forecast of this severe storm the leader cancelled which I was pleased because of the threat of high winds on the parkway which is subject to trees being down blocking the road.

After the storm passed, which we just got some rain, thunder and lightning I sat outside and read the afternoon away. The book by Charles Martin is a page turner and I read over half of it during the afternoon and evening right up to bed time. It's a sad story on sex trafficking but very interesting on the waterways along the east coast of Florida from N.C., LATER
