I'm looking out the kitchen window and dawn is just breaking over the Blue Ridge mountains to the east with just a faint glow of pink over the corn silos and barns of this beautiful farm which is right next door to sister Dee and Mike's beautiful valley home. We got in here last evening after an early morning start in Whitmore Lake, Michigan on our way across the beautiful farming area of Ohio and into Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia. We even made a quick stop in Berkley Springs to visit the old river house where Nancy as a kid spent her summer with her grand parents, family and cousins. The old place is in complete disrepair and falling inward do to the roof having huge gaping holes. The For Sale sign is gone but the yards which are completely over grown. Nancy took her shoes off and waded out into the Capon River where she use to bath as a kid as there was no bathroom in the old house.
We made a stop in Winchester to visit Paw Paw and then took him out to Cracker Barrel for a delicious supper. We came back and sat on the porch for a spell then we headed down to Woodstock to visit with sister Dee's. Mike had his knee surgery early Monday morning and that was recorded as text book perfect. He is in a Harrisonburg hospital and we will make a stop to visit with him on the way south. It has been a whirlwind trip which started last Friday and hopefully end later today Tuesday as we head back to the cabin after a stop in Galax for groceries.
