Sunday Morning

Well Saturday was a wash out with rain, wind and cool damp temp's that kept us inside except for the supper time hours when we headed over to our dear friends house near Sparta. The rain and wind where quite evident as we noticed down tree limbs along and in the roadway as well as tons of pine needles and leaves littering the roadways. We had a delicious supper and then some hotly contested games of Sequence and while the boys showed up with a win to even the score the gals won in a sudden death one game playoff. It was only the second time in many games that we were that close with a back to back win for the boys.

The day started with my usual 6'ish roll out to rain on the tin roof. The small tower electric heater has kept the cabin snug and warm despite the cold damp rain. I've yet to lite the propane heater but if this keeps up I may have to sooner than later. I did my morning routines of a hot cup of green tea laced with turmeric to help with some joint issues and to wash down a handful of Nutrilite vitamins and supplements. I spent a few quiet moments with my Creator in thanksgiving for our many blessings and to lift up several in need of some divine intervention and healing. I spoke with Paw Paw later in the evening and he sounds much stronger and his attitude seems good. He seemed thrilled we were coming up to Winchester next week for a visit before we head back to Florida for the winter. We missed having sister Dee and hubby Mike for the weekend as they had planned on coming to the cabin for a mini vacation for a couple of days. We all(three daughters) will meet on Wednesday to discuss and plan on what is best for Paw Paw's health care.

We sat around and watched the hurricane news and was thrilled to see the major area of the wall stayed off shore and spared the east of of the US from devastating destruction and loss of life. Our favorite city of Charleston was spared almost totally except for some high water damage and beach erosion. Hopefully this storm will blow itself out at sea and we must feel very lucky after seeing the loss of life and property damage in the Carribean. We caught up on our reading and then I watched college football most of the afternoon which most of the games were played in rain soaked conditions.

The pot of vegetable soup filled the bill for lunch as it was so delicious on a damp cool rainy afternoon. We noticed that as the afternoon grew the wind picked up. During the night time I was awakened a couple times with the wind singing in the trees and around the cabin. I could hear the rocking chairs on the front porch being shifted around at times. We have several old trees along the parkway that is just waiting to be blown over now that the roots are loosen with the soaking rain. We have received nearly 5 inches since we've been back on Wednesday.

Well that is about it for Saturday except to mention the delicious lasagna supper we had last evening at Kay and Gerald's house along with Mechelle. The homemade apple pie was awesome as well and the fellowship was even better. We so enjoy their company and their grandson Caleb made a guest appearance as well. He is a fine young man and quite the shot with any rifle or shotgun. He was featured in a sporting magazine with an article about his feats and his young life and he is only a sophomore in high school.

It was going on 9 o'clock when we headed for the cabin and the high wind had leaves and debris swirling in the air on the ride back. I was a little fearful those leaning trees would be down blocking the roadway; but there was just lots of stuff in the roadway. Today is corporate worship at Cornerstone in Sparta and then again tonight with a fund raiser for the youth with a star studded lineup of three different types of music. It should be a fantastic evening of entertainment, LATER
