Well Sunday turned clear, blustery and rather chilly with a morning reading in the low 40's. The high winds made it feel even colder but the skies were blue and the sunshine was brilliant. We worshipped first at home with our church in Florida streaming live with Bridgepoint Church in St.Petersburg, Fl. and then again in person at Cornerstone in Sparta. After a lunch out with friends Mechelle and son Caleb we headed out to a pumpkin field near Sparta to pick up ones that had been discarded for whatever reason. There were hundreds of thousands of them in fields that will be plowed under as they didn't just meet the ideal specs for commercial sale. We went back to Cornerstone in the evening for food and fellowship and a fund raiser for the youth of the church with an awesome concert that featured a two local artists; Richard Shatley a church member and then a blue grass gospel quartet called Priority Blue and the headliner was an awesome group called Summit Trace. All of these artists and musicians were phenomenal and they blessed our spirit for nearly two hours non-stop. It was after 9 when the music stopped.
The day started much the usual with a 6'ish roll out for me to cold winter weather for Florida. The 40's is usually the coldest to start the day on the west coast of Florida during winter which usually warms up by mid afternoon. The steady wind was blowing near storm conditions which made the cold seem even colder. We had the portable electric heater going and I hung a blanket between the up and down stairs to keep the heat down below. It's a very noticeable difference between the two floors when the blanket is in place. I did my morning routines that started with my vitamins and supplements washed down with a cup of hot green tea laced with the herb turmeric while I spent a few quiet moments with my Creator in thanksgiving and lifting up those in need. Just an up date on Paw Paw as he seems to be getting a little better each day as indicated by the strength of his voice when speaking with him on Saturday. I was unable to reach him on Sunday but we will see him on Wednesday in person as we travel up the Shenandoah Valley to Winchester, Va.
Pastor B at Cornerstone had an awesome message on honor and afterwards we headed over to a local eatery for some lunch and then to the pumpkin field. The wind had dried out the field overnight and the gathering of lonesome pumpkins went smoothly. After all of the rain I thought sure the fields would be muddy. There are so many fields of pumpkins abandoned in the county that its almost a shame to see them wasted, but they are used for compost when plowed under for the next crop which is usually cabbage or corn. Nancy spent the afternoon arranging our bounty of pumpkins around the yards and placed several on our neighbors porch as well as we will take a few with us to Woodstock on Tuesday for sister Dee's porch.
I tuned into the NFL and MLB during the afternoon while Nancy played with pumpkins before getting ready to head out a little after 5 for Cornerstone. Nancy made a huge container of brownies to add to the large dessert table for the concert goers. I stayed away from the free food which was hot dogs and chips and instead had a bowl of homemade soup before leaving the cabin on this chilly evening. A coat was needed and the half moon was shining brightly over the mountain tops as we headed home. The wind was still in the trees and the debris in the roadway was evident with lots of down pine needles and leaves. We got home in time to watch the last segment of the debate between crooked Hillary and Trump. I 'm having a hard time understanding the left or the elitist who continue to drag Trump through some of his mud when they elected twice a rapist and a user of women to the office with Bill Clinton and that Hillary excoriated the women and ruined their lives who brought this to the attention of the nation. Wow do they ever have a double standard and now are in fear of losing to a movement that wants to take back our country. I'm not that thrilled with Trump but who else would have the guts to stand up to the establishment especially when most of them are bought off by the special interests and Wall Street.
Well that was about it for the day. The sheets were cold so its time for flannel sheets when we get back to the cabin later this week from Winchester. There is a chance for frost in the valley's here tonight but with the wind that lessens those chances. The half runner beans are blooming and I'm hoping with some warmer temps and no frost they will make. The tomato's are winding down with just a couple plants showing some green but the peppers, beets and all of the herbs are still looking good except for some that were drown with all of the rain in such a short period of time, LATER
