Saturday Morning

Well it's been raining here for 24 hours with mostly a gentle and soaking rain. We did venture out to Sparta yesterday for a couple hours meeting up with our dear friend Mechelle for lunch. We ran some errands then made a stop at our "mountain moms" place for a visit before heading back to the cabin. This rain system has nothing to do with the hurricane but is much needed as we were so dry here in the mountains. Matthew (storm)looks to be pounding the coast of Georgia and South Carolina after leaving some destruction along the east coast of Florida. I sure hope it doesn't destroy our now favorite city of Charleston as it passes through and hopefully eventually out to sea.

Friday was much the usual with me as I was awake around 6'ish to the sound of rain on the tin roof. I did my routines of a hot cup of green tea laced with turmeric then spent some quiet time with my Creator in thanksgiving and lifting up those we know and love and especially for those in harms way of this hurricane. All of our friends and family were spared from any destruction or injury and now our newest friends in Charleston are facing the storm as it heads that way. At least the eye wall is some several miles off the coast which should be a blessing but the lowlands are susceptible to the storm surge and flooding. We hope that Judith and Rolf our newest friends there are high and dry in this beautiful city.

We spoke with sister Dee and its seems they will not becoming for a visit this weekend as we are heading back their way on Tuesday for a conference on Paw Paw's health and rehabilitation status. He has only 20 days in this facility and then other choices must be made as to where he will go. We aren't sure if he will be strong enough to go back to his residence mainly because of the bathroom on the second floor and that was a culprit leading to his injury and present situation. He does seem to be getting somewhat better.

We headed out around noon and met up with Mechelle for lunch at JB'S pizza in Sparta as their pizza is the best around. We had a great meeting and caught up on all that going on with her and the family as well as her decision to seek a new job. Caleb her son is now a sophomore and still hunts and fishes as well as shoots in matches through out the state. He was second last month in a shooting competition. He is such a good kid and one to be proud of as is her daughter Kallie who is in college at Raleigh. We have grown to love her and her family.

Well Nancy made a huge pot of vegetable soup for supper which grew as she prepared it. We will have plenty for the next several days as the temps stay down towards the cool level. We have had the electric tower heater on several times throughout he day as the cool temps and rain quickly cools down the cabin when we are away. Once we get it warm we close off the upstairs keeping the heat down on the main floor. I sure miss wandering around outside but its just to wet and soggy so we read the afternoon away until it was supper time. After the cleanup we tuned into the Fox Cable News and then I flipped on the commercials to watch some of the MLB playoff's. There isn't any real interest as my teams never made the playoff's this year but I do like the endings of the season, LATER
