Well Sunday was a busy day that started with a well before 6 rollout to my usual routines, albeit they were abbreviated due to us leaving for Boone/Blowing Rock around 9:30. It was an uneventful trip down south along the twisty roads as the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed for repairs. We got there around 11'ish and headed straight for the park in the center of town. The play was jumping with kids and 3 pickle ball courts were in action as well with some decent players. Seems they updated the basketball courts with pickle ball nets and the action was decent, not great . I wanted to play since my aching back as quit hurting but had no paddle plus I didn't have decent foot wear. Instead we soon looked for a place have a bite of lunch and one place close had a to 2 hours wait. We found a deli and outside picnic table and had sandwiches.
Bobby, Annsley and Gabe soon headed out for their 2 appointment for the zip line so Katie, Nancy, myself and boys went to see Katie's aunt Cindy who last year purchased a place in the mountains just a few minutes from our motel. Wow is this place hard to get too due to the road and the steepness of the area but it is huge with a great view, but not one I would like as there is no yard and its nearly straight up and down. It was the first time we had seen her since Bobby and Katie's weddings several years ago. They met us for supper at the Pedalin' Pig in Boone later in the evening for a delicious supper. We got a storm while waiting that was unbelievable in intensity. A complete white out with rain and fog for several minutes then it cleared off with some sunshine. Before we headed out for supper I took the boys in the hotel indoor pool for an hour or so while we waited for the zip liners to return.
After supper Nancy wanted some items she can only get at Publix's so we shopped and then met everyone back at our hotel. We had adjoining rooms so we played Euchre after buying a deck of cards at Publix's. The gals won in a close match as it was the first time Gabe and Annsley ever played the game. The twins had been put down earlier in our room and in bed when we came in from shopping and it was around 10:30 when we called it a night. Everyone in Bobby's room had to be up around 5'ish for their trip to Banner Elk to meet up with their white water rafting group which supposedly lasts until 4'ish and then they have the 2 plus hour trip back here to the cabin later in the evening to have supper. I never slept at all as the boys were up a few times during the night be4side it was a different bed, etc.
We got them up around 7'ish and then headed down for breakfast before leaving around 8:30 for Sparta. We came back on 221 all the way which is the shortest way but the roads are the most crooked in the county. We had to make another stop at the Food Lion in Sparta for some items and everything is full to the hilt in both fridges and freezers. We let the boys play with the new Lincoln logs and train set then they wanted to play outside. I took them on a a golf cart ride to the mailbox and then they rough housed outside until 2'ish after a lite lunch, LATER
