Sunday Morning October 3rd

Well Saturday was basically a fun day as I spent the morning trying to catch a mess of bass for supper at our mountain moms pond but the bass were to slick for me as I hooked several but only managed to put 2 in a bucket and then since those were the only two I turned them lose to swim off with their buddies. I stopped and winterize the garage for her before heading home. The day was perfect with a cool morning which quickly warmed up to the 70's by late afternoon.

The day started with my usual routines after a 6'ish roll out to a cup of herb tea. I have a lemon balm plant which is supposed to be good for what ails you so I had pulled a several leaves the night before and steeped them in a cup of hot water while I posted the ramble and then some quiet time with my Creator and Lord giving thanks and lifting several up by name. We got word that Ben on top of the mountain isn't doing well as he is suffering from pneumonia and can't get out of bed in the hospital. I took off on my early morning non stop hike to the top of the mountain once again having my out loud morning talk with GOD. I decided upon getting back to the cabin to have an apple for breakfast then I packed up some fishing gear and headed out for the pond.

Well the first half our had no bites and then it was like every cast I had a fish on as I was using plastic worms but I could not get them into the bank. Finally I caught one and decided to put it in a bucket of water so in case I didn't land any more I could turn it loose. I hooked several more and all either threw the hook while tail walking and leaping out of the water. I did manage to land one more but that was it for 2 hours of fishing so I turned the two loose to grow larger. It was fun but either they are smarter than me or I'm loosing my touch either way its nice to have a place to relax and try to out smart them. Today wasn't the day and now Nancy wants to head over before we go back with real fishing worms which always catch bass. Plastic bait takes some skill to get them to hit whereas the real worms are the best. Sam torn the fish up here when he was here this summer using real worms. I think he caught 9 bass in the same spot, oh well.

After a lite lunch I piddled around hand watering my new lettuce seedlings and then I split some lighter knot for starting camp fires. I found a whole cache of them where I was raking pine needles the other day so I decided to split some with my hatchet which I also fine relaxing. I then settled down on the back porch with a new read for a couple hours before we headed out together for our long hike to the top of the mountain. We stopped and chatted with Billy and Paula who were just back from Winston with her 102 year old mother whom they take turns staying with during the week. She apparently is a handful but still going strong at her young age. We had a great slow hike and the views were limited for the long distant ones due to the haze off the mountain. The trees are showing more color each day.

After supper and the cleanup I settled into the college football games and saw a tough Kentucky team who hasn't beat the Gators in decades win in a close game. Afterwards I hit the shower and read until 10'ish, LATER
