Well, Friday started out rather chilly with overcast skies and it sure looked like weather was coming in until midmorning when the sunshine broke through. It then became another beautiful Fall day perfect for working and hiking and just being outside. I did a little of both and then some porch sitting and reading later in the afternoon. We even took a trip over to see our mountain mom Helen for a few after lunch and brought her some tomato's and jalapeno's from the garden as well as some antifreeze for her garage. I will winterize it for her today after wetting a fishing line in her pond. I may get lucky and catch enough bass for supper.
I started the day with my usual 6'ish roll out to my routines that start with a cup of hot tea while I post this ramble and then some quiet time with my Creator and Lord giving thanks and lifting several up by name. We got word that our friend on top of the mountain is still in the hospital in Florida and isn't doing well and his age is making it worse. We also spoke with sister Dee last evening and her daughter Kelly and family have cancelled on their trip down this way next week end so it looks as if it will be just Dee and Mike visiting. They both caught a cold and lets hope that's cleared up by then as well. Nancy is fully recovered from the virus and I've still not showed any symptoms and neither of us are getting the shot(s).
I had a good early morning hike where I like to speak directly to GOD and honor Him and then vent on why such evil and corruption has permeated our society and is destroying our nation. I do know many who are Believers( christians) who have not stood up for the nation and even voted this corrupt administration into power. It is just so disheartening they have let the vile MSM influence their thinking and even the new generation is accepting the idea of socialism/communism promoted by the radical left in the congress along with Islam. This just makes me ill and disgusted with those who were so blinded by their ignorance to what this man did in the congress for 47 years and then to his failing mental capacity as well as his lies that are evident. He is just a puppet for Obama and his hatred for America as we saw during his 8 years as Potus.
I piddled around doing some weed whacking, gardening and some honey do jobs up until Nancy was ready for her long hike to the top of the mountain before lunch. It was turning out to be a beautiful day and the hike was invigorating. The buildings in the distant were still in a haze and Pilot Mountain was barely visible but here on the mountain a gentle breeze kept it quite comfortable and in the shade even a little chilly. I had long britches on for the hike as I did on the early morning hike.
The newly transplanted lettuce seedlings seem to be making it thus far. I did dead head lots of the marigolds saving their seeds for next years planting as well as several zinnias heads that have died. I'll dry them and save them as well for next years planting. I now have several volunteer tomato seedlings in the compost pile as well a two potato plants up about 6 inches. The garlic bulbs I planted in September are up as well and I'll give them a shot of fertilizer before leaving for the winter as they will grow during that time. I need to get over to a friends barn and load up some horse manure for the gardens as well.
Well we ate left over salmon, green beans and tater cakes for our supper and my oh my were they delicious. After the clean up which I usually do (and it helps to keep my finger nails clean), since we don't have a dish washer here at the cabin. I'm afraid of having one when we aren't here during the freezing winter and getting a dish washer clear of any water to keep from freezing must be a chore. I tuned into the Ray's vs Yankees and we won 4-3 in a close game in New York. Go Ray's, LATER
