Friday Morning June 11th

Well the weather didn't cooperate for Tyler and Sam on the Appalachian Trail as severe warnings for lightning and flooding caused them to abort their goal of two nights and three days. They did get in a 6 mile hike before turning around and then coming back to the cabin. Maybe next year the weather will be better as they can try again. There was much disappointment but it's better to be safe than sorry especially when dealing with lightning storms and no shelter.

I started the day much the usual with a before 6 roll out to my usual routines while Rocky slept and snored in his cage in the same room. He can sleep through a storm and his snoring and Nancy's are definitely a number one. I did my blog and some quiet time to honor my Creator and Lord giving thanks and lifting up several; all seem as well as can be expected. I took Rocky on a hike to the top of the mountain once the light rain stopped around 9'ish It had rained through the night to the tune of nearly 3/4 of an inch of rain. At times it poured buckets and saturated the yards and gardens.

After breakfast I piddled around outside moving some plants into larger pots for the porch when Rocky leaves on Sunday. He is a busy body when it comes to things on the porch so I'll wait until he leaves. He has some really big sticks he has drug out of the woods laying around the yards that he likes to chew on from time to time. I did manage to work in the circle drive bed while the kiddos kept him busy inside and transplanted my cucumber plants. They did well there last year so I'll try them there again this year. I've noticed more and more zinnias are popping up in different beds that I've sowed with last years flower heads.

The herbs are doing great thus far as are the lettuce seedlings. I did lose a couple over night due to the down pours but most have added another leaf. I'll set them out as soon as Rocky departs the hill. We did lose power for some reason last afternoon for an hour or so around 4'ish. We did hear some thunder in the distance and some lightning must have been with it because it seems it was only in our area according to the folks at the call center, oh well. Nancy made a huge delicious pot of Zuppa Soup which all the kiddos love with a loaf of crusty bread made for an excellent supper.

After the cleanup we played a little of the Kings on the Corner with Amy  before I hit the shower around 10 and then it was lights out for me. They all must have stayed up late as there is no one stirring in the cabin as I make this post, LATER
