Friday Morning September 4th

Well Thursday tuned out to be a beautiful day weather wise but a little warm to say the last with some high humidity. I was up early and out to Sparta for a follow up on this blood clot with a nurse practitioner whom I really like and trust. I'll use him for my primary care physician when and if I ever need medical help while here in the mountains. I think Nancy will also transfer her records from Independence Va. as well. He sent me to the hospital here in Sparta for the lab to have blood drawn which included 15 vials of blood, yikes, some were small in size but that was quite a few vials. Anyhow I survived, an hour or so afterwards, we headed out to Stone Mountain for a 4 mile hike back to the water falls.

I did my usual morning routines, quiet times and the posting of the ramble  although somewhat abbreviated as Sheri and Steve are also early risers. They are coffee drinkers along with Nancy and were enjoying the morning ambiance as I ate a quick breakfast and got ready to head out to Sparta. I got back before 11 and we headed out,  down off the mountain to Stone Mountain Park.

It was a rather warm day and while we were mainly in the shade on the trail and along the cool water I still worked up a sweat. We had forgotten just how far that hike was back to the falls. The loop is 4.5 miles but we did not go up the face of the big rock so it was it bit less than the total distance but still it was a great workout. Luckily we brought some snacks because at one time I felt a little faint from the blood drawn earlier in the morning as my blood sugar dropped. After a few moments of a snack and some water I was good to go. We saw lots of hikers on the trail and at the water falls.

We got back to the cabin somewhere around 2'ish and had a delicious salad with some leftover grilled chicken breast on top and then we settled into a couple of games of Spades with the gals vs guys. Well it was a raucous game to say the least and the guys prevailed in both games. It was going on 6'ish so we had a little fruit of the vine while we prepared supper. I headed out to the garden to harvest some Swiss chard and herbs from the garden while Nancy prepared salmon fillets for the oven. It was a delicious but healthy meal to say the least. Sheri is staying away from sugars and carbs as she has loss considerable weight in the last several months and we are trying to emulate her tenacity for eating and do the same.

Well that was about it for the day as we visited our itinerary for next May's cruise to Alaska with this couple from Seminole. Sheri is very knowledgable about the cruise and travel department which has made our arrangements so much easier and really enjoyable. We are excited for our first cruise ever and visiting Vancouver where we will have a couple days and nights to visit that beautiful city on the west coast. I had visited there back in the 60's for just a day and remember the beauty of the land and water surrounding the city. We did tuned into the Fox network and watched our Potus Trump deliver a rally speech in Pennsylvania. We must remain vigilant in our decision to save this nation by voting him back into office as the dems are offering US(A) nothing but socialism, turmoil and hatred for patriots citizens. The radicals in the BLM and Antifa movements are supported and approved by the elitist democrats, MSM, Hollywood crowd and biased academia who are all determined to destroy our nation anyway they can which is becoming evident through their violence and disregard for the rule of law. GOD HELP US(A) if the dems get control of the government, LATER
